LOS ANGELES - Actor David Hasselhoff pleaded no contest Thursday to a charge of driving under the influence and was ordered to enroll in an alcohol program for six months.
The plea was entered by an attorney on behalf of Hasselhoff, who did not appear in court.
Superior Court Judge Elizabeth Lippitt also imposed a $390 fine, community service and license restrictions, said Jenaro Batiz-Romero, spokesman for the city attorney's office.
Hasselhoff, 52, was arrested in June and charged with driving with a blood-alcohol level of 0.08 percent or greater.
In 2002, Hasselhoff checked himself into the Betty Ford Center for treatment of alcoholism.
He is best known for playing lifeguard Mitch Buchannon in the long-running "Baywatch" TV series. He also starred in the 1980s television show "Knight Rider." |

LOS ANGELES - Less than a month after filing for divorce, the estranged wife of David Hasselhoff has filed for a court order on a claim of domestic violence by the former "Baywatch" star, according to court records.
Actress Pamela Bach, 42, made the filing Monday against Hasselhoff, 53, in Los Angeles Superior Court, summary records on the court's Web site show.
At a private hearing, Bach also asked for a temporary restraining order against the actor, but a judge denied the request, instead instructing the two to stay away from each other.
"The court indicated that she should stay where she is, and he should stay where he is," Hasselhoff's attorney, Melvin Goldsman said by phone Wednesday, declining to comment on the allegations.
Documents pertaining to the hearing have been sealed by the court to protect the pair's two teenage daughters and their privacy, Goldsman said.
Bach was granted custody of one daughter while Hasselhoff was given custody of the other, publicist Judy Katz said Wednesday.
Hasselhoff filed for divorce Jan. 12, citing irreconcilable differences after 16 years of marriage. Bach filed her own divorce papers a day later, also citing irreconcilable differences.
Messages left Wednesday at the office of Bach's attorney were not immediately returned.
Hasselhoff played lifeguard Mitch Buchannon in "Baywatch" from 1989 to 2000. He also starred in the 1980s TV series "Knight Rider," in which his character, Michael Knight, teamed with a talking Pontiac Trans Am sports car to fight crime.
Bach appeared in the soap opera "The Young and the Restless" and in numerous episodes of "Baywatch" and "Knight Rider." |

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mark A. Juhas signed the order March 6 ordering the former "Baywatch" star to stay at least 100 yards from actress Pamela Bach except for "peaceful contacts related to court ordered visitation" of one their two teenage daughters.
Bach, 42, has custody of one daughter while Hasselhoff, 53, has custody of the other.
Juhas scheduled a hearing for April 4 to decide whether to extend the order to three years.
In her request for the order, Bach claimed instances of domestic violence in December and February. In one incident, police officers were summoned but didn't give Bach an emergency protective order, according to court documents.
Hasselhoff's publicist said the actor "categorically denies" Bach's allegations but declined to elaborate.
"Out of consideration for his children, which, as always, remains his paramount concern, he is not going to discuss this publicly," said publicist Judy Katz.
