Tracks in public before you get signed.

Hello guys :)

I was curious about a matter regarding a track that you have just made, and want to send it around to various labels. I was asked by a member here on TA if he could include my new track on his mix that he was later on going to publish here on TA.

My question is what is Labels views on this? Wont you get signed if the song has appeared on a mix before it was brought to the label?

Regards,
Fredrik. :D

No most of the time that isn't a problem. Sometimes it's even better if you track get supported by a lot of (known) dj's the labels also know that the track really must work on the dancefloors so they get interested in it. So most of the time no problem.

Ah, didnt think so either. thank you so much for your help :)
if any of you others have any suggestions or ideas about this, do add your thoughts to this topic :)

Just remember that Some labels will not eaven look at signing the track if it's all over the net already..
Aquarian
included in DJ mixes = good

available as a standalone for people to download = very very bad

Yeah, I guess that's why Haak and others didn't get their stuff signed either.

Oh wait...

Anyway, (and this is my opinion alone)
If the first thing you do after finishing a tune is think what labels think of it, you're in it for the wrong reasons. If your tune is good enough, it will get picked up eventually. That's why the music producers forum is really boring nowadays - nobody wants to share their tunes because they think their first FL doodles are good enough for a release... or if they do, their first question will be "is this good enough to be signed?".

I just don't see the harm in sharing a full track. If some label wants it, you can change it around a bit to make it sound different enough from the mp3... not to mention the mastering.

Yeah agree Mr.Mystery 100% with your opinions, thanks alot for the input all, much appreciated and I've decided to not mind the DJ support, all support is good support imo :D This is not my first FL doodle though, not sure if you meant me anyway, proud FL user since 99 I think :D

Nope, just a general thing I've noticed.

if ppl are scared of sharing for the reason of signing, but would want to post otherwise, the easy solution is to post a lower quality bitrate of the track. that way ppl catch on, but dont have a good enough quality version to play anywhere other then just a preview.
