Should 90's classics be remixed??

I'm hearing so many classics from the 90's being remixed and re-released lately but i'm not convinced by them. I've always had the opinion that if a tune can't be beaten, then it should be left alone.
With new remixes of Lost Tribe - Gamemaster on the way, Amber - Sexual, and a few others, what do you reckon? Should they have been left, or do you like to see tunes remixed over and over again? :whip: |

I Think it would be pointless, My personal opinion about classics is that they should be left alone, You cant beat listenning to a classic. I think for the electronic scene to continue being successful it needs to take recent chart music and make it into a track that can be played in a respectable club music, its healthy to try crossovers into different genre's. Artist like Tiesto & Moby, Armin & Ray Wilson, lots more others.
I think "Trance" has become more varied from the 1990's, more artist's have been producing and changing styles to give themselves that uniqueness, |

| Should they, lol it seems like a very deep philosophical question :p. Anyway, if people remix them then that's fine; at least it gives more variety to the listener. If you don't like the final product, just don't listen to it. |

5 years later, the new style of the music which you don't like start re-hashing your tunes. People think Rank 1 - Breathing is an original piece for example. Over time people begin to forget the originals & harp on about how good the remakes are. You lose the passion & all the good memories and as a result get bitter ;) |

same thing happened with Frankie Knuckles & Jamie Principle "Your Love", it gotbootlegged with a Candi Statons vocal and became "You Got The Love" and most people think (to this day) she recorded it!
Then in 97 it came out again as Candi Staton feat The Source without any features of Knuckles's track and NOW its got another remix, which basically sucks and makes me hate a track i used to love.
So Ian is pretty much right ;) |

good point, but a good production is a good production. I say if they remix it well or add a fresh feel or sound to it, then i don't have a problem with it.
i think that in the same way you described people losing the good memories of the original tune, people can re-experience those memories with remixes. say for example you heard for an angel back in '99 or whenever it was released and you thought it was great.. five years later you're at a club and you hear a remix that brings back all the great feelings of hearing the original. i dunno.
then again, i think some classics shouldn't get remixed.. you know, the tracks that have five billion inferior remixes. like greece 2000. so i guess it depends. |
