I've recently devised a set, however...

...the track selection probably seems pretty crap. Firstly, here's the tracklist:
Rusch and Murray - The Promise (ronski speed mix)
Exposure - Magic Impulse
Solid Globe - North Pole
Quivver - She Does
Sonorous - Glass Garden (ronski speed mix)
Dj Tiesto - Love Comes Again (sue me if it derives from a cows udder)
Eye Wall - Bad Deal
Miikka Leinonen - Calm Waters
F.Corsten & Tiesto - Gouryella
Empirical Labs - Turtle Beach
Dj Tiesto - Sparkles
Dj Tiesto - Urban Train
Anyway, this is my very first set, so feel free to tell me if it's laughable. However any recommendations to rectify in some areas of this set would be thanked before I think about recording it. |

looks a bit naff to be honest. there doesn't look to be any sense of direction with the tunes, you start big, epic & trancey, and finish big, epic & trancey, with a couple of random techier tracks in the middle, looks kinda like they were picked in random order
try focusing on moving gradually moving through styles, maybe start off slow & build up to the more anthemy stuff |

A link to the set would have been nice. Without it, we can't comment on what truly matters: the mixing.
I would recommend, at least to not include more than one song by the same artist in the same set, especially in a short one like this and even more so, back to back. 3.5 Tiesto songs out of 12 makes you seem unoriginal and underexposed to music.
The tracklisting looks like an average trance fan set, but if the mixing style is strong or unique, that always gives it the nod over simple fader slams. Most of these songs are major anthems and have been caned to death over the last X years. Realize that people who are overexposed to these songs won't like the set as much.
Also, try TA's DJ Promotion section of the forum. |

Hm yeah, I've also noticed the random selection of songs in the middle there but I'd say it only provides a test of my mixing skill. 3 Tiesto songs do seem obvious which why I'm still thinking of some "newer" songs I could collaborate nicely in those positions, but I'll try uploading the mix if anyone want's to hear. Overall, it's just that I think I need more experience with making sets. Thanks anyway.
Edit: I even keep up with 2006 material, been a Trance fan for years so I hope this set doesn't reflect that I've been sleeping for the past couple of years. |

Well, it doesn't have to be newer songs per se, but the library of avaliable trance songs is huge and a couple of those songs are role fillers that couldhave been replaced with a different equivilant.
All in all, I'm more interested in the mix and would be willing to check it out and let you know what I think of the mixing. I think this is more important to tracklisting (though both are necessary elements!) If you upload it, paste a link |

That MIGHT work, try that....fixed up a few titles for ya. I dunno if the exact order of these tunes fits, but I'de give it a shot and see. This way it flows a little better i'de say. |

| if you're mixing the set for other people you should always include lesser known stuff that they probably haven't heard. I know when I'm at a club I love hearing something different, even if it's not the greatest track in itself. |
