I need some help ...
when you do a file tranfer on msn with mp3s, once it's done ... if you click to open it from the msn window you got it from (your friend) it says the file is blocked and could be harmful to your computer ... where does it go? |

My Documents -> My Received Files
Edit: Didn't make that clear -- if it gets blocked, it's deleted -- you need to open mp3s manually by going to said directory. |

Np -- there are some ways around the stupid thing btw... While I'm not aware of the simpler ways; myself I use a program called "TweakXP Pro" and disabled the whole windows firewall etc system and basically just rely on my own programs for protection.
^This isn't recommended if you have no idea how to keep your computer safe (e.g. Good Antivirus & Firewall) |

Try sending the file without the .mp3 extension. And tell the reciever add the .mp3 extension after the file is completely downloaded. |

Np. Though I can't remember perfectly, I think what needs to be done to remove the Windows Firewall/Protection services is going to the auto-tune panel (there's a button on the left) and you have to choose to tune services slightly. Myself, I don't recommend tuning anything else automatically, though you can do plenty of stuff manually.
Happy tweaking ;) |

I like to rename mp3 file extensions to .txt (which is completely harmless... even MSN knows that ). Then have the person receiving the file rename it on their end. It seems to work fine.
Oh yeah... and I use MSN version 6.2. It's not allowed online anymore by MSN's rules (if you download it from oldversion.com or something then they'll ask you to upgrade), but with a small amount of hacking I was able to get it to work. |
