Im trying to do a remix of U2's City of Blinding Lights and i was wondering if there is a way of striping down the original to just one part of the song (ie. vocals, piano, guitar...) in Adobe Audition or anyother way with something else. |

In a fully mixed song all the instruments are now sharing frequency space and are blended together.
Kicks: can be easy to extract since their "mostly" low end
Vocals: near "impossible" to extract cleanly. but if you use the search feature there are several ways to extract vocals, although it is a dirty process which will give you mixed results. Since in almost ALL pop music (ie all music you listen to) vocals are mixed towards the center. So I dirty way is to use the "center channel extractor" in Audition.
I don't know how much you do know or how much you don't, I'm just throwing out ideas.
The list could go on. All I'm saying. There's no easy way. And no magic way. Just call up U2 and get the rights to remix them. I'm sure they'll send you their mix on a 2" reel. ;) |

Try the technique in the link below for removing the vocals:

Theres also a utility for slicing a song into a sequence of wav or midi files based on sound frequency....anyone remember what its called? i can't remeber at the moment. |
