Richard Hamilton
Ben Wallace
Rasheed Wallace
they also gave up on Chris Webber. |
Imagine if the Blazers drafted MJ instead of that bowie gimp:toothless
Or even if John Nash(blazers GM) was never hired,Portlandcould have had a playoff team right now.
Or the warriors kept everyone:
J-Rich
Vince Carter
Larry Hughes
Gilbert Arenas
and Baron Davis
-they could actually afford half of them being injured everytime:D
Anyway Iverson was the MVP last year and he is the MVP this year,he is taking a Euroleague team to the NBA playoffs for sakes.
I have no doubt that if Iverson had Nash's team in last years playoff he would have beaten the Pistons\Spurs.
Lebron is also a nice contender for this year's MVP title. |

| MVP means most valuable player for his teams. That is how the NBA has deemed this award to be. Sorry if you don't agree, but that's the way it is. Shaq is not the MVP, because he has a strong supporting cast. Iverson is a great pick, although the sixers have put some good players in there (finally) with CWebb, Igudala (did I spell that right?) and Korvor. But I still believe it's Nash or Kobe |

What I'm kind of trying to say is... put Allen Iverson on the Suns and Steve Nash on the 76ers and I bet this thread would be titled "Allen Iverson for MVP?" |
hell no
iverson is a great individual player, but he's defintely not a team player like nash. i agree with Colangelo's decision to not invite him to the olympic team
b/c of nash, joe johnson and qRich had career years last year. check out their stats this year.
and also b/c of nash, players like Marion, Boris Diaw (boris who?), leoandro barbosa, james jones, etc (and more) are having career years
place iverson on this years suns team and the suns are no way dominating the pacific |

Since when is MVP the most valuable to his own team? If that's the case, Allen Iverson should've won last year. Without him, the 76ers would've won 12 games. |
last year, statistically, iverson wasn't even in the top ten. and yes, the 76ers would've won 12 games, but usually the MVP trophy goes towards a player on a team with a strong winning record, NOT a mediocore .500 team like the 76ers (this year and last year)
the mvp has always been about who's been the most VALUABLE to his teams success |

hmmm..
I think you're being too hard on AI. He is a great team player, even if he's not the true point guard the way that Nash is.
Also, AI was one of the few bright spots on last run's olympic team. I watched several of the games and he was pretty much the only player who was passing the ball around.
One reason I like AI is that he said he would never leave Philly to go chase a ring like Gary Payton or Karl Malone did with their teams. He said he would be proud to play as a 76er for his entire career even if it meant no ring.
If that doesn't make you a team player I don't know what will.:D |

I hate Allen Iverson with a passion...
but if I was to take either him or Nash.........I take AI over Nash everyday of the week...
I've always thought MVP in every league.........is the player that means the most to his team......... that's why I still say Elton Brand is my MVP, THE CLIPPERS are not a .600 team without him!..... 2nd is DWADE! |

should have chipped in sooner. :stongue:
my top people, in my opinion :
1- avery johnson ( heck! give it to this guy ! he never had the opportunity like this when he was a player with the spurs, so just hand him his deserved MVP trophy for shaping dallas into what it is right now .. a team that CAN play defense . :wtf: )
2- lebron james
2 (tie) - carmelo anthony
3- elton brand
4- steve nash |

When you pretty much have max money for rest of your career, well, only thing that should be driving you is a championship ring.
Then again, I'm not AI.
Then again, Philly doesn't have much cap room right now and doesn't look like they can get much, unless they offload C Webb and his max money to somewhere else. |

so what's more important? being loyal to a team and helping it to .500 mediocrity season after season?
or pushing your team to the top of your division, and helping all the players around you have career seasons?

elton brand definitely deserves mvp mention. he's playing like a beast this year and will probably carry the clips deep into the playoffs |
