Hi guys.. just wondering what the best way to get a FULLER sound to my mix is. Im not unhappy with it but it needs to be tighter. Anyone know any good FX plugins or compression programs i could buy?
And if anyones got any tips on compressors or plugins please feel free to drop me a line.
Basically if anyone has any tips to give my mixes more life please speak now.
kind regards

The problem that you have with mixing your tracks on a DAW is that it sounds too sterile and too clean. What you can do to compensate this is use a Tape/Tube type distortion plugin through your mix which will make your tracks sound tight and warm.
I believe Voxengo have a nice Tape plugin in their Analog Suite |

Stereo Seperation certainly creates that big sound. |

These have all been no brainers pretty much... so I'm gonna go for the big one:
You Need Love.
Which, incidentally, is the most important ingrediant when making cookies for sleeping beauty.
Huh, if they used trance in that movie, I would watch it more, because she was pretty hot anyway.
Seriously though, trance in Disney movies would rock pretty hard. |

You'll turn. Believe me, I'm like Vader when it comes to things like this.
For example, imagine Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and to keep it politically correct, Pokahontis, all having an under water rave at the Little Mermaids sub-marine warehouse.
Bambi can come too, cuz he's the pimp, and I heard he can breakdance pretty good.
But yah for a fuller sound, try turning the speakers up.
Usually works. |

I haven't heard your mixes so i can't comment much. Only thing I can say is that layering can thicken your sound. Also, your source sounds need to be Phat. Usually this means having some freqs in the 250hz range. makes things sound warmer and fatter. compression can help too. Some light chorusing can help too. |
