Hello guys.... i put up another link somewhere for the version without beats on... (The chillout) but i did a trance mix.. i dont seem to understand the fruity compressor that much... coz the distortion i get from the high frequenzies... can someone give me an advice on how to compress it correctly?
Oh and i need a feedback on the track as well lol.... other than the distortion, whats good and whats bad....
thanks....

The track is really over compressed. That's the problem with the highs, and it pumps too much as well. The song is drowned out when the kick hits.
You need to turn the kick volume down, as well as most everything else. And before every compressor, from now on, put in a Fruity dB meter, and make sure it is below 0dB before it hits the compressor. And after that, if the channels are all close to 0dB (except master, that can be close to 0dB.. I always master for -1dB to account for amps that don't take media volume into account before equalizing... but that's another story) pull them back down with the gain knob so they don't end up being way too loud.
As far as the rest of the song... even though I could barely frikkin hear it :O ...
I like the melody. It's really tense sounding, though, and there's no sense of relief in it.
If it were my track, I would change the format, and add a new chord progression at the climaxes (climaxi, climaxae... WTF?).
Otherwise, need to fix that compression before I can comment on the percussion or anything.
Climaxi - the worlds leading combination female sanitation device/contraceptive.

This track feels/sounds like you recorded it in another room. The bassline is the most clear instrument of the group, and even that is muddy.
I'm with djglacial... You need one more chord compression. This sounds like a trance-beat to a soundtrack ballad, and the melody is quite beautiful -- now finish the story. ;)
When I hear the melody, I think of something Enya. Something from a medival movie -- a love theme so-to-speak.
The kick is mediocre. Try some different samples.
In addition, your bassline is also mediocre. You shouldn't have introduced with it either... it's too flat without the kick. Try a rolling bassline... At least try a different patch before you keep the off-beat one.
All the elements were fudged together. You are pumping alot of things that should NOT be pumped. Instead of squashing everything -- maybe you should go with the idea that less is more... leave normalizing to the mastering engineer and only use compression on a SELECT FEW elements that you want to distinctly sound sharper, volume-wise.
If you want to pump the master... less is more. Put the knee to soft, a slight ratio, and only a little bit of gain. I have, however, heard some discouragement of this practice (am I right?)...
Bottom Line: you had a pretty good idea here, mate! Develope it some more and simply let us HEAR it! All righty? |

and there is the original one i created yesterday... it has no music at all.. I bet you will probably chill out by the melody... i posted it before but i like you to hear both of em and compare.... charlie darwin said that its probably a good intro for a dj to start a long set.
here is the link for that
