Hi there, Ive only been producing for a couple of months, see what you think to this I made. I will have a look and review a few other tunes in this section tonight when I get home from work :D

Any bad/good feedback would be great, new to it all so dont be too harsh ;)
dj_kane
havent heard the original so i cant really compare it.

percs are nice, drums are nice also

atmospheric feel is good, dont no if thats your own elements or the original.

its a good for only being producing a few months

i would be able to give a better review if i heard the original

nice work tho!

Thanks, Ive not heard that original either, just had the midi from a pack of Rank 1 midis and liked it. Thanks for the feedback.

It's a good effort for someone who's only been producing for 2 months.

My strongest critisism is that the melodic elements aren't strong enough for the most part. They're either too quiet or they're just too thin. The kick drum sounds pretty muddy also, so sort that and then think about putting in a bassline of some sort to get the track moving a bit better.

The high lead melody that comes in at around the 3.30 mark is also a bit on the harsh side and becomes annoying pretty quickly. Arpeggiated leads are common in trance, but the trick is to know how to apply them so that the main melody comes through. In this mix the melody just seems a bit all over the shop. Also perhaps filter your sounds not just when bringing them to give the track more movement.

Hope I wasn't too critical, but whatever doesn't kill us makes us stronger, so I've heard.

One last thing - I think you really should take a listen to the original. imo you can't make a proper remix without a decent foundation.

Thanks alot, thats exactly the feedback I need, will carry on working :D

Review

Intro - kick in is from VEC vol1, sounded so familiar hehe, distorted strings are cool, samples are looped again from the CD, maybe look to variate your own loops?

Synth work is kinda cool, panning effects i like, bass is a bit weak and ur missing alot of MID frequencies and variation's like the open hat's, claps n stuff and nothing is happening in the breakup...

Breakdown - filter work is cool, lead is kinda strange hehe, like a picotto sound, the arps and hi frequencies kinda kill the track a bit imo.

Outro/Other - same as the intro

Conclusion/Other - when remixing u need to establish, if this was my track how would i of made this? the ideas are all from the midis. for a few months yes its great but u need to stop using the samples as much and learn your own stuff then your sound will develop. good attempts here and a well done :)

Thanks Terry, this was more a learning curve on how to use effects and change things around from given a straight midi, and I liked the fact I havent heard the original because I wouldnt be trying to copy it in any way. I totally agree about the loops in needing to use my own, which I will begin to do :D The samples were mainly from Eufex and Equinox packs picked up on Bangingtunes I think.

I shall continue working, thanks again.

yo ryarni.

kick is big.. nice but too loud. and add a nice bit of compression to tighten it up.

i have this track on vinyl and now remember what it goes like.

this is a nice piece of work. your synth choice is good.

overall i like it. sounds like you are new but your ideas are in the right place.

comp that kick so it spares some headroom and add some +2000hz by +2db-5db to add some slap.. boost your mids around 1800-2000hz by almost 3db maybe. get more presence in the track.

the sparkyly synth is a bit much imo. not requires so loud. go for deep with this me thinks:)

nice job and look forward to your next stuff.

maybe crit my svd remix?:)

rich:)
Ryarni
Thanks for the feedback, will try and have a go at your suggestions.

Sounds nice m8, if your only producing for a few months this is quality. Offcourse there are alot things I could give critic about but I wont since this is kinda your first tune. The atmosphere is good in here, Synths are strange indeed :D but it has something cool to it. Well done.

I dont wanna bump this again, but wanted to say thanks Sevenseas :p

This track is definitely pretty well made for most likely a first track. Keep up the good work and it'll soon pay off :)
