Billboard falls from T.O. building, injures three

A billboard that fell 18 storeys from a tower to one of Toronto's busiest intersections injured three people, one of them seriously.
Police say the metal sign "flew off" the tower in high winds Wednesday, crashing down to the Yonge and Dundas Street intersection in front of the Eaton Centre shopping mall.
According to police, people walking along the sidewalk were struck by the wayward sign. Two people were left with minor injuries, but officers say one man suffered a serious gash to his head.
Officials with the Eaton Centre are reportedly monitoring the situation. They say high winds experienced throughout Toronto on Wednesday may be to blame for the incident.

I arrived at the scene right after it happened!
THere was a guy on a bull horn, and everybody was looking up, so I thought it was jumper. I quickly realised the guy on the bull horn was on the street, and that a piece of a sign was missing, and that was the cause of the shut down.
I really do not think they they needed THAT many cops there. A few to section of the street would have been fine, but there were a lot of cruisers. |

| The guy on the bullhorn was annoying people and being confrontational about some church..... but i thought there was some sorta attack there coz of the way the cops had cordoned off the whole area.... the i saw people looking up at the sky.... pieces of the l'Oreal billboard missing.... someone gonna get sued!! |
