| Does this law affect cars on the Gardiner/DVP/401 from 5pm-7pm? If I was a car owner, I'd hate it if I had to turn my car on 55 times on the way back home. |

Here's another in the book of City of Toronto SCAMS
Note the real reason for this law as i have highlighted in bold! |
this is funny, cuz cops let their cars idle more than anyone I have ever seen .... way more than taxis. |

Was her bad in there too?
Because that's VERY bad too - if a Police badge is floating around!
That's serious bc of what could happen w/ it. |
yeah that was one of the issues... her whole uniform was in the car, including gun and badge. |

For the record ive always been pissed off when i see parking bylaw officers illegally parked in order to ticket cars that are illegally parked. Talk about hypocrisy! If the parking laws are oh so important that we need to ticket and tow as fast as possible, why is the officer himself adding to the problem? |
this bothers you???
so...we have a couple of cars illegally parked downtown...the bylaw officer should have to find a legal spot (or wait forever if none are available) in order to leave their vehicle to issue a ticket?
that's beyond stupid.
I guess a cop shouldn't be able to speed to apprehend someone who is speeding...because that's "hypocritical" too?
nice logic, lol.
also...if the ticket is for blocking an emergency route or fire hydrant...that ticketing officer can immediately move their car if an emergency arises...while the offender is likely off somewhere else and in no position to do the same.
or...if the offender didn't pay to park on the street or at a meter...they are depriving the city of revenue...the ticket officer is not, given that it's their job to monitor this exact situation.
FWIW, this idling thing should be very selectively enforced in areas where it's a problem (but we know it will just be another cash grab)...e.g. where people idle on a major street, waiting for someone for 10 minutes, instead of parking somewhere. |

jane pitfield looks good so far. lets see who emerges. We should have gone with john tory when we had the chance. Toronto would be a whole different place today if he were mayor. |

Well i dont have much of a problem with them doing it to do their job. But all too often cops speed when there is no emergency and bylaw guys park illegally to get a cup of coffee and THATS what im mainly getting at when i complain about them. I see that ALL the time.

^^^
then you should be mad at cops who speed and park illegally when it's not necessary...not parking bylaw officers DOING THEIR JOB. |

well we all know that even the ones doing their jobs are still a nuisance. And not just because they are issuing tickets. More because they are enforcing confusing and manipulative laws put in place by the city soley to generate revenue. Much like the idling law. |

Jay, you're so full of sometimes. Parking restrictions do a lot more than generate revenue. Traffic flow is managed (i.e. no parking on King St. 3-7), proper sight lines are created (no standing within 5 feet of stop sign...), and such. |

GOOD! they should do this. to many stupid idiots ideling their cars in parking lots chilling side by side talking, or people with car starters starting their cars up, then having them running for super long before they actually get in. seriously, for the average car, not talking about super old cars, it doesnt take long to heat up at all! take some time, use your $2 window scrapper on your window, stop being a lazy ass, and drive for 5 minutes, actually driving, to heat up your car! we do have winter coats, gloves, and pants, were not driving around in t-shirts and shorts in the winter! if you have massive fog so you cant see out, then wait 2minutes for the air to get warmer than it is outside, which will make the fog go away, then drive. dont start up your car for fackin 10minutes.
look at places like tim hortons, some of them have the biggest fackin line ups ever in drive thurs, and people are just sitting there waiting and waiting and waiting. i have no beef with drive thurs, i mean i use them, as long as they work and you get your fast. if theres a huge line up, park your fackin car and go into the store! frig! |
FUnny you should say that. When I used to hang out in the KW/Cambridge area, it seems all ppl do is hang out in Tim Hortons parking lots.
IMO, this is a scam. What city vehicles are they referring to? How does the system work? Is it engaged only while the car is in neutral. Imagine sitting in one of these cars in the middle of the 401 at, say around 5:00PM :)
Its great to be proactive about the environment and preservation thereof, but there are better ways to spend that money than this. |
