I was watching erick morillo at pacha nyc last night (helluva show)
And I spin so I know a thing or two about mixing but it did not look like erick morillo was beatmatching. It looked like he put the cd in hit a few buttons cued it up and it was perfect.
Are there mixers that can synch up your cdj 1000's so you don't have to beatmatch?
Or is he just so phenomenal in 3 seconds he has the song matched perfectly (his mixing was so tight, I have seen him 3 times and he has never come close to dropping a beat)?

rumor has it, he has people who work for him who set every track he burns to cd-r to a certain bpm. so basically all he's doing is just putting the cd in and its in ballpark range of the track thats currenty playing, so only takes 15 secs to get it in sync.

Or it was a prerecorded show. I've seen Oakey do it several times. It's not uncommon for a popular DJ who travels a lot. Pretty ty, but it happens.

It's not that complicated to mix with CD-J's to be honest, considering there is a bpm display. He probably has all of his cue points saved on a memory card, so all he really has to do is put in the cd in and make sure the bpm displays on the 2 CD-J's are the same.

Yeah I heard some of the big star dj's have pre-recorded sets.My boy told me that he went to a rave where bad boy bill was on the decks and the police came to bust it and the mix was still scratching and he wasn't even touching the decks. That is funny. :D

many dj's edit tunes to suit their needs when they spin.

Bad Boy Bill has sucked the last while.
But i can say beyond a doubt that his turntable skills are superb.I have seen him mix flawlessly 15 songs in 10 minutes on vynil.Insane.The scratching you heard was probably just part of the song. There are countless tracks that have scratching in it.

Dude I know that there is tracks with scratching in it already ,but my friend told me that that wasn't the case that night. My boy is a scratch dj and he would know because he has some sick ass skillz himself. I also forgot to mention that the mix was in a transition phase, meaning a new track was coming in. I still think bad boy bill is a sick ass dj though. He's nasty on the decks. :eyespop:

but so has Max Graham
hahahahaha

The BPM counter is very innacurate and doesn't always stay at the same speed. If he mixed in just a couple of seconds then chances are he had the BPMs of all the tracks pre-set.
