Taimur & John Tejada: A+ :)
Sullivan Room: D
GHB and I arrived around 12:30am and told the bouncer we were on two guestlists (Sleepy & Boo's as well as a comp list for DJ Taimur, the opener.) He made us wait at the rope for at least 15 minutes while he let in other people who weren't on any lists. I finally called our friend, Taimur's buddy, to come up and get us. When we went to get tickets, the cashier wouldn't comp us saying "it's really crowded." WTF does that have to do w/ us being on the DJ's comp list?!? Anyway, it was $10 per person, not a big deal, just annoying.
However, the night only got worse. It was extremely packed with inconsiderate people who didn't have a clue what was going on. They seemed like the "cool club" rejects. Forget any so-called club etiquette. There was a huge line for the one bathroom stall for women. At one point there was no one using the guy’s bathroom so this girl I met on line paid the bathroom attendant for both of us to use it and then he separated us, telling me to wait by the line. I waited and waited and he never let me in even after that girl came back with a drink for him. What a dick.
There wasn't any room to dance except right in front of the DJ booth where a few of us carved out a space for ourselves. The only positive thing was that the music was great. Taimur did an excellent job getting the crowd going and there was a seamless transition to Tejada. For the couple hours we were there, they spun more house and techno, not so much minimal. It's really a shame the venue and crowd were so crappy because the music was definitely top-notch. We ended leaving around 2:30 and headed over to Love at Kid Nyce's suggestion where there was no problem at the door, Pete Moss was spinning some great tunes, and there was plenty of room to dance. |

i had to be out of tejada, i couldn't even get to the bar let alone paying $15 to get in let alone taking about 20minutes to cross to the other side to let GHB and BS know what I planned on doing, that pretty much broke the camels back for me and me and some friends decided to check what else was going on.
we passed by love to catch Jason Jollins outside who proceeded to let me and some friends get in for $10, fairly empty down there but it's kinda nice to "not have a scene" with a ton of people. I don't care what anyone says, the sound is so crisp down at love, I think it really competes with most major venues.
Thanks for the hookup JJ!
After love, the night fizzed out and i wanted to get to my bed...bit of a struggle saturday night but i wouldn't consider it a lost cause...
oh yea ryan thanks for that....ill get you back |

Yeah, the crowd at Sullivan Room was awful to say the least. First, I hate having to fight my way across the dancefloor in order to get to the bar or restrooms. The venue is too narrow for the booth and dancefloor to be at the entrance of the club. I had the same complaint the only other time I've been there (Paolo Mojo last fall)
In terms of how crowded it was, let me put it this way, I think it was easier to walk around at Sasha & Digweed last weekend.
I was really disappointed, as the music was good, but neither barosoap or I could take it there anymore. |

Yea, I had predicted as much, so, at the last minute, I went somewhere else. Friday night was a little better though. |
