Oh well.. I think next year FOR sure I'll be going.

I've already had a couple calls from some friends who got down there yesterday and it's KILLING me.

I did a four day trip a few years ago (left to come back to work the same day of the big beach party).

Was totally worth it. One more day and my tan would have been really great. Next year fer sher!

miami is played out.

Gone are the days when you could party poolside with danny tenaglia and daft punk. Gone are the legendary lil louis vega barbecues and the up close and personal feel that having a conference pass offered you. These are what made people come to miami in the past.

All it is now is a massive festival that ends at midnight... MIDNIGHT?!?!??!

Id rather save my money and go to a real festival in europe.

Im not saying miami isnt fun anymore, but for what it has become you can get a far better experience elsewhere now.

dude its not just about ultra; there's loads of afterparties in clubs, hotels and poolsides that you can go to. Hell; I think Beatport is hosting some pool party with the likes of Zabiela, Fanciulli, and a bunch of other young guys.

I'm having a hardtime imagining where you could have a much better experience.

Still though, when you have 100 times more people trying to do the same thing you want to do, the restrictions on movement get pretty tough. Apparently a conference pass doesnt even do anything for you anymore.

I cant imagine its as easy to get into the good parties as it used to be. In fact id bet that its pretty much impossible now.

Miami used to be for industry people, not every G monkey and his stripper girlfriend.

well when it comes to getting into parties i've heard numerous stories on people being denied entry to clubs on the simple fact that the door person was powertripping. So yea, as far as access goes, I can see that.

But you still can't compare the whole idea of a 7-day party with every dj under the sun in 1 city. Whether its in a club, a hotel, or a pool or beach; there's always something to do. Unfortunately now, you gotta know the right people to experience those really good parties, like, a danny tenaglia poolparty (good god i get goosebumps just thinking about that)

:whip: :whip: i just received a message from one of the MTLTA's saying he's just calling to let me know "how great it is to be on the beach". grrrrrrrrrrrr.... :(

well thats my point. What good is a party if you cant go to it?

Ive had far better experiences in places that most people dont know about. Miami used to be that.

Its just because with more volume = more uptightness.

As for massives. Im all about massives. Creamfields in argentina for example. But the idea of miami wasnt about massives. The original idea of miami is lost and thats why its no loss to me not being there.

Ill save my cash for the full moon party in thailand next month :)

Granted, it's no Ibiza I'm sure, but c'mon! DJs at the pool, ON THE BEACH?!, all night long, till dawn, nearly all your favorites in one spot for one week? And having friends from all over North America being there to share it with you?

I am on a broke bastard experience of WMC but I'll let you know if it was worth it all when I get back. :) I was the one who got left behind last year when a good number of my Detroit friends went down to Miami. I swore I'd go this year, and voila, here I go in T-minus 16 hours.....:)

Next year, I vote Detroit and Toronto rent houses next to each other on the beach to better promote cross-country relations.

as i said, its most definatletly a good time. But i can have the same good time (even better) somewhere else. So why bother with miami when the world throws way better festivals?

If miami was like it was in the 90s id be there in a second.

Instead if i want massive festivals then ill save my cash for creamfields or exit festival in serbia.

(which by the way, are actually allowed to go all day and night)
