Help Please on my KRK Rokit5's

I just purchased these. Hooked em up to my djm 300 w/ RCA's. I fumbled w/ the voltage switch, the rca connections and so on.
I don't get any mid range sounds. All low, no high's either. Anyone familiar w/ this?
I am reading the manual it says one rca is unbalanced.
TRS and XLR is balanced. WTF? Thank you for the help.

I'm not familier with those speakers but using Unbalanced RCAs shouldn't be the problem, the difference between the unbalanced RCA and the balanced TRS and XLR cables are just that the balanced cables won't pick up any interferance, these are only generally needed when long speaker cables are required, or if the cables are running past alot of electrical equipment, so I wouldn't worry about the whole balanced thing.

When something like this happens always try and narrow things down, make sure that the signal from the mixer is good and that its not something to do with the mixer or the source of the music.

Thanks, but I have a behringer 700 as well, plugged in it w/ same rca's. Doesn't sound any different, muddy and clipping, no high's, speakers came out of the box 12 hrs ago...Anybody else have suggestions? I thought these active speakers would be plug and play but???
Should I take em somewhere else and listen to em? Replace rca's? I have some old Roland m-12's I was using before w/ same equipment, no problem there, just wanted clearer and louder sound, so I thought I would upgrade.

have you turner down the gains on the speakers and slowly increased them. also play with any frequency jumper settings they may have.

I have, djm 300 turned up and dowm all three, the behringer as well, and the back of the Rokit as well. I absolutey do not hear the melody of the tracks, lead melody so on, I hear vocal, and bass..sounds like

Stupid question - a blown fuse from speaker means I would have no sound correct? Not just some? I heard the demo speakers at guitar center and liked what I heard, ut not from my mixers at my apt.

leave the mixer as it was all eqs set to 0 and have the gains and the master turned up to wot u would normally have it on. then whislt playin a track the the krk turn up the volume very gently. i think the manual says they shuld be kept at about 9 o' clock reli. if that dont work try different leads, borrow sum rcas off a deck to c if they work. also if u can try the krks on a differnt system. if its not that they its probably the speakers.

thank you will do, I will try new rca's or even xlr, if sucks, take to guitar center tonight and plug em in there, maybe bring my mixer in too.
Thanks Nutsan

I have those monitors. I have been using XLR cables since I pulled the speakers out of the box, and have never had problems. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but I would test them with XLRs to see if that makes a difference.

ok, I bought some XLR connections from guitar center, they sound fine now! Thanks everyone w/ suggestions, Ygrene too.

Funny thing is though I bought a i-pod RCA adapter, used same RCA's and they sound fine too from i-pod? Oh well I ain't gonna channge anyting so. Thank You

dude you got 1 year to find out if they are defective or not. it will be a hassle to send them the monitors but atleast theres service.

i never had problems with my rokit5, actually i never heard such a nice sound from such a small piece of equipment.

Hey man, good to hear you got it working, I think the problem was with your mixers RCA output, I have the same mixer sitting in my basement as its kinda destroyed now, there not the best mixers, if you want to really be blown away by your new speakers, upgrade your mixer next.

Nice choice on speakers man.:D

thanks
