This is one of those tracks that springs forth fully formed, name and all from one's forehead. Kinda like Aphrodite springing forth from Poseidon's forehead. But it's not called Aphrodite. It's called Flow. It did just sort of fall out of my head into the sequencer, though, the whole thing, including the name. Tracks like this are always a joy to write.

I actually finished it, like, two weeks ago, but never really got around to posting it 'till just now.

nice kick it fits the track well. - maybe more punch to it tho if you want it to be dancefloor friendly.

love the snake hiss perc. really nice. always wated to use that in a track actually/

bass is nice. and the high synth and xylophone that follows it work really well! the track sounds nice and balanced.

break - suits the track.

overall i cannot see this turning heads. it would bore me on the dancefloor if im honest. but id enjoy it on a cd compilation or on di.fm while prepairing for a night out or while doing some work.. it would fit on one of those german psy compilations i think..

this is quite chilled out psy. and i really dont like psy. but i like this. its got some sophistication to it.

well made and clean with a definate aquired style.

nice start to the track.

I like the bassline, nice and deep. I think the arp type synth sounds better at open cut-off than closed.
Nice synths at 1 minute, cool twinkly effects, the song is building up really nicely now. Sounds cool at 3.40 too, nice synths again.
Nice song overall man, just think it could do with a few more changes. But I find it quite trancy so maybe a lot of changes would spoil that.

I like the techy scrape at the start. The kick is very good too. That guiro thing is very cool indeed. I did not expect the introduction of such a groovy bass, and I found it very pleasing. A very nice groove all together is set up in the beginning. Actually it is almost housy (in a very good way). I half expect some black woman to start wailing in the first third, but it restrains from releasing that tension, which is where I think the song is best. The metallic arp sounds very good.(FL rules!!!)

The high arpy synth right before the break is maybe one complaint. The piano/organ introduced after that increases the housy feel and my negativity a bit. I don't like the break synth either. I think it should be creepier and scaling. Its kind of cheesy/happy at this point. It sort of has taken a housy detour with high synths.

I don't think this is intended to be dance music which is why the house is unsettling in too large a dose. The song gets my foot bobbing in a groovy nervous way in the beginning, which I like, and maybe I just wanted it to kind of stick to that. Maybe chill it out a little more. I think it's destiny is to be great earphone music.

I didn't expect the return of tech at 6 min. I am very happy again. I think you should do more of this and cut some of the housier moments a tiny bit. The song is like a sine wave and is awesome right before it crosses the line.

Very, very cool overall. My overall feeling is very positive, 7/10 for funky earphone psy.

Thanks for sharing.

intro is nice

love that kick really tight

bass is nice just sits well in the track without intervering too much.

the xylophone is nice, however im not too keen on the supporting synth i would have used something else here.

like the synth before the break, really neat and good feel to it.

the overall track is nice, has a psy proggy feel to it

good work

Hey mate,

This is a nice clash of styles it sounds a bit like progressive psy from the 80's haha. The whole build up sounds a bit progressive with a big touch of computer gamish flavor. Then during the break the track becomes a lot more trancy. You use a nice kick for a progressive trancer.

Having said that I do feel there are a few things which could be improved :

- the melody itself does not really grab the attention. During the leadsection is almost sounds like a sort of build up. Melodicwise this track is not hooking enough for me even though it is progressive trance

- Therefore the track is a tad too long. Only when a track has a memorable melody one should repeat the leadsection ;)But that is just my humble opinion haha

- Some sounds could be beefed up more EQ'ing wise to get that extra touch of clarity. Also a touch more reverb on certain elements to create a wider atmosphere might help. The track sounds a bit dry here and there.

Conclusion : very pleasant listen but nothing that will stick in my brain.

Cheers,

The mids could be turned up a tad.

I like the bass drum. Seems to clip a bit.

Bass is really deep.

The clap is harsh and very synthetic. ...(they work a bit later on when other layers come in; could be more central)

1.52 I like the triangle pattern. It has a exorcist vibe to it.
2.05 nice secondary saw layer that goes well with triangle exorcist synth. Nice a spacious with left & right layering...

2.34 awesome pitch change.

3.11 nice new layer. This tune is now progressing well.

I actually enjoy the rattle snake shakers... all the way through this tune! They are a great addition, though they are a bit louder that the other layers. A bit of mastering will fix this.

4.32 brilliant wizardry :p Very sweet moment.

I like the pads in the background...

6.20 the acid pattern is done really well and progresses very well from here on.

8.10 great little break with the solitary reverb click :p

8.50 really great layering here.

On the second listen (and my 4th beer) I was in a trance mode with the tune & absolutely loved it. It is a little repetative, but is a groovie number that should be turned right up & enjoyed for what it is: a fun psy progessive trance trip!!

Thanks for sharing dude. I enjoyed this piece.

Thanks for all the replies, guys.

Xeno hit the nail on the head in describing it as a very groove-centric piece, hence the lack of distinct melody. It's also not supposed to be much of a dance-floor piece.

I'm kinda suprised that everyone's put the psy label on it. There may be a few psychedelic influences, but while I was writing it, I didn't really view it being looked at as such. I suppose the input of others ic what defines a track's genre anyway. *shrug*

I like the wide variety of synth sounds used, they manage to keep it from getting dull. Its not really my taste in prog, I prefer things a bit more driving, but its a nice clubby track nonethelss. Could work well in a warmup set or maybe at an afterparty/chillout.

The pads at 4 min are really sweet. Sunday arvo sort of material that.

I think that shaker sound is used a bit too much and generally sticks out in the mix.

Production generally is very nice and smooth. Its all er.. flows... well. hehe. I dig the frequenceies your bringing out in the bass and the high balleric sounding synths at the top of the mix.

Hey...

Nice beginning, the sound which you used in the beginning... the bass seems to be even too deep. Nice high synth arpeggio. I dont like too much when you raised one of the synth arpeggios by one octave but its a question of taste. The main synth which comes at 3:10 is really nice and soft.

There could be more effects in the track, now you are using all the same the same effect, I dont know how to call that sound. You could try to develop the main synth line, change the chords at some moment for example because now it gets a tad repetitive. Nice chilled out prog trance anyway!!

Cheers, Lakeus
