there is another thread here on it lol.
if u can get ur hands on some old black curtains that were used in early studios that will work nicely. basically you need materials that will obsorb the sound (soft crap) but make sure you have nice acoustics in the room too. like a nice wooden floor, awesome! |

kills resonance and natural reflections. carpet doesn't do well when made PERMANENT on the floor.
However, rugs can be really usefull in certain spots. But you don't want to over do it with rugs.
Also. Don't over do it with eggcartons either! I can't tell you how many people think more is better when it comes to room acoustics. Having a good room to start out with like Lepanto said is #1. Then add bass traps in corners with square rooms (VERY IMPORTANT) and then if the opposite wall of your speakers is flat....

..... make sure you have some stuff to bounce and break up sound-waves. Otherwise you'll have constructive and desctructive interference which will make certain sounds louder in spots in your room, and other spots dissapear.

Anyway. Look for some tutorials both here, and out on the net. I'm sure there are some good tutorials on building a budget studio. |

I meant rugs! You can't really place a carpet anywhere, it just covers everything.. i meant a rug. :p
Thanks for the mini explanation, next year when i move into an apartment, im going to try and optimize it for sound |

I was hoping that's what you meant! This thread is more geared towards the production studio forum tho. Don't know why he posted it here. Most COR people just ignore it because it does not involve "ORLY", "asian pics", "BBQ", ":wtf:" or other stupid trend.
I would love to tune my room acoustically. But at the moment. I'm inbetween places. When I move out at some point. I'll be all over that like white on rice. |
