Today I did something I've been talking about and finally did. I registered to walk for the Weekend to End Breast Cancer. As many of you know, I lost my best friend and neighbour, Aurora McLaughlin, to this terrible disease on my wedding day, Wednesday, October 6, 2004. The walk is September 8 to 10. I walk in her memory. I will be holding fundraising events and preparing for the event by training, so if any of you are up for evening walks along the beach to get me prepared, let me know!

I'll be sure to keep in touch to let you know how you can sponsor my walk.

Awesome Caroline!

My stepmom has been particpating in this the last 3 years and it has been very rewarding for her.

Best tips: Get good shoes - and break em in before the walk. Get a good pair of sport socks aswell. The last thing you want are nasty blisters. Finally, make sure you get your excersice before, this is no walk along the boardwalk.

That's wikked. :)

One of my coworkers was just telling me yesterday that she's doing the walk too... it's a 60km walk in 2 days right? that's hardcore, but for a great reason!

Thanks for the tips, As! My orthotics were tweaked yesterday. I have an awesome pair of New Balance shoes (but I'll probably get a new pair before the walk to break in).

I'm going to the gym every morning, and I plan to walk as much as possible, but I can imagine the concrete will be brutal! I'm so glad to know that someone's been doing it for more years than one! One of the girls I work with did it last year and said it was quite hard. I'm ready for a challenge! End of summer goal!

Wheeee!

a good cause..

and i was surprised to learn that some men also get breast cancer although the rate is not as high as it is for women.

I lost my aunt to breast cancer in 1996.

Congrats!
I'm sorry to hear about your loses.

But this is good, and I hope more people sign up for this, great cause!

Keep your eyes open for me this summer at various events, as I'll have bracelets for sale to help with my fundraising...

StereoPrinces has been kind enough to offer to host one of her Kabin parties as a fundraiser.

Anyone else who would like to do the same (whether it be a Poker night or a pool party), please contact me!

Any help is greatly appreciated! :D
