AFL breach of privacy.

Last night I was sent an email to join the footy tipping comp with my mates, and when I clicked on the link in the email my browser opened up on a page with the details of a guy in Victoria. I was able to see his D.O.B. address, phone number, etc. I sent him an email to alert him to this, and included my number. He rang, and was quite shocked and anoyed as you'd expect.
Should he take this to the courts for a breach of the privacy act?

Absolutely! I have to work within the privacy act with what i do and one little slip up and i am personally liable for massive fines.

On top of that i cop from unhappy customers becuase i will not bend the rules for them when they want to know somehting on their partners account and they are not authorised.

If i have to deal with this all day then the afl should also be held acoable.

You could have been anyone obtaining that information.

does he use recreational drugs??

Personally; I wouldn't, but it depends, has his information been given out to millions of people and now recieving spam? or was it nothing? If he is not affected by it other than a trance addict sending him an e-mail then there is really no point to take it to court. I think the afl web development team definately needs to be contacted.

I think there should definetely be some sort of enquiry within the website as to how that happened. I mean how many others could have seen this guys details? What if the same thing happened to you.

I wouldnt be too happy either!

I think if this guy is serious about what happened to him, he should definetely speak to a lawyer and see what can be done!
That is also if he has the money & time!

back in the day, I used to be on MiDrOz!@!@! mailing list...

he accidently sent me a link of a gig he had going on, which he was subsequently already logged in as a registered user.

so when i got in, i just clicked 'Profile' and got his address and mobile number.... which i then proceeded to sms spam using those oldschool free sms sites

msgs like "DONT ING PLAY THAT TRACK WHEN YOU CLOSE AFTER TIESTO"
