Ok, I'm liking the bassline here, I think this is the strength of the track.
The weak point in my opinion are the strings/pads work, the need to be EQ'd and needs some space work (reverb and some delay I'd say), they just sound lifeless, but equing down the frequencies 180 Hz and bellow, and boosting from the 3 Khz to 5 Khz, would help to give them spirit a lot. If you haven added compression to them you can do so as well, but first EQ then compress, well, at least that is what I do, some people do the compression first the EQ, but I don't see the point.
The percussions need some variation in this clip, as for the rest, it sounds cool, just the pads sound horrible here IMO.
Then after the fixes you need to make a decent master, to make the track sound clean. |

Thanks man,
The point of EQ before compression would be that the compressor reacts to the highest amplitude anywhere in the frequency spectrum. So if your 500Hz is at +1dB over your comp threshhold then all the other frequencies will be compressed with it, even if they aren't over the threshhold. So it depends on wheither you are EQ'ing to model the sound or to correct it;
If you are correcting the sound then: Comp -> EQ(cor)
If you are modeling the sound then : EQ(mdl) -> Comp ->EQ(cor)
greets!

P.S. Thanks for the review. I have an idea for the pad's now, ill work on it some time today. |

hello mr darwin
nice kick and bass accompanyment. this sound professional. boost the kick at 2k by about 3db imo. will give the kick a more open sound.
i love the overall sound of the sounds together. your strings work well in creating emotion - but add some more delay/verb to them so they sound more epic.
break - piano is nice but a bit prominent. maybe turn it down a bit in the mix.
main section is great. there is a nice drive coming from all the parts. and its very dreamy.
second break - sounds nice. fits well.
second main section - this definately would sound better with more slap from the kick. but it sounds well balanced and clean.
also the track sounds very dj friendly mix wise.
im sure the sound is a lot more open sounding in a hq version but id say maybe eq the whole thing with a little more highs so it sounds more open.
great work charles:)

Okay , Im loving your rolling bass, but why not add little details to the tune to give it pizzaz?
Oerhaps a small cymbal at the very beginning. Some atmospheric sounds here and there, because for the most part it sounds empty. Energy is fine. I agree with the statement about the pads, they sound a little dead. I'm loving the melody that harmonizes with the pads. Great piano lines. Needs a bit more of a build up. |

Don't forget theres still vocals to come on top. And atmospheres aren't my strong point. Maybe this is the time to learn a trick or two about that. |

Nice funky intro. Kick is awesome and punchy. Liking the trippy mid-bass.
I like the pad, but maybe it's a bit too overwhelming. Look into the levels there.
Nice percs and effects.
I think your hats are a little too loud. They can be a lot quieter and still be heard, methinks.
I'm not really looking forward to a vocal version, the dub is pretty good as it is. :)
Make sure to give Flow a looksee. |

Hey mate!
Still like it ;)
Bassline is really good.
I would still like to hear more of that gate effect on the piano.
You could add some more piano parts to the track aswell.
The second break sounds very good as it is, love that melody going on
there, but you could add the piano in the second main part (~6 min).
Crash sounds weird, did you timestretch it?
Maybe add some more percs too?
Great track overall and I'm seing forward to hear the vocals ;)
Keep it up!
