| quote: | Numark this week will introduce the iDJ2, a new version of the company’s professional iPod mixing console. Unlike the original iDJ, the new iDJ2 features only one iPod dock, but can play two songs simultaneously from a single iPod. The mixer provides real-time scratch, pitch control, looping, and full cueing of music from the docked iPod.
Numark said iDJ2 owners can also use USB devices such as hard drives for music playback via rear panel USB ports. Other features include an LCD screen that offers waveform display and visual track-profiling, line inputs for any audio source, and the ability to record musical performances to a docked iPod or any connected USB drive. The iDJ2 supports MP3, Ogg Vorbis, and AAC (non-DRM) formats. Numark said the iDJ2 will be released in August, but has not yet announced pricing. |

i think it has the potential to be really really good.
you buy one of these and an external USB Hard drive (~$150 for a 200GB drive) and you've got the equivalent of two cdj200s - almost.
it depends on the scratching quality and pitch control resolution.
BUT if you can get one of these for ~$600 and a HD for $150, you've got what could be a very good setup for under $800. thats hard to come by.
i'm itching to try it.
I think CD players (i.e. CDJ-800 MK1, and CDJ-1000 MK2 will soon be obselete (beacuse of mp3 and HD players) |

in other news - this is pretty cool too!

| quote: | HDMIX
At the core of the HDMIX is an 80 GB replaceable built-in hard drive coupled with a CD drive. The CD drive is included for performance playback and ripping music directly to the internal hard-drive eliminating the need for DJ’s to transport CD’s. To further simplify computer connectivity the HDMIX includes USB 2.0 and is compatible with MAC and PC computer platforms. The HDMIX allows the user to record directly to the hard drive from any input source, including the ability to record a live performance while in action. The HDMIX provides full support for MP3, WMA, WAV, Ogg Vorbis, and FLAC (lossless) formats—enabling DJs to dramatically reduce the volume/weight of the music library they transport—making their work easier. The new HDMIX Station offers track search by artist, album, song, genre, and BPM. The HDMIX incorporates a professional three-channel mixer with Metering, Gain and EQ controls on each channel. Additional inputs are provided for connecting additional line sources or turntables. Outputs include master XLR balanced as well as unbalanced and booth outputs. |
