Hello again my friends! Due to the few, but great feedback I received on my first mix (which can be found here) I decided to make another mix. Only this time, the theme is progressive for both sets. For the house set I was going for a slightly rough and edgy sort of mood. All in all, I think I did a good job of capturing that sound. In my trance mix I went for tracks that truly define the trance meaning and what its supposed to be about. So with that said, I present to you the fundamentals. By the way comments are welcome.

1) Harry Lemon - Tiga
2) Subsky Not Yet

alright here we go...
Harry Lemon - Tiga ====> Subsky Not Yet
first mix sounded good. definitely a good idea, but coulda been a little cleaner. it think it's mostly just an EQ thing because the matching seemed pretty solid. maybe take a little more out of the middle of Tiga when you start the fade in Not Yet just to make a little more space for that snyth sound that fades in over the top. but yeah good mix on this one. tracks flowed well into each other...
Subsky Not Yet ====> Paul van Dyk Buenaventura
another good mix. personally i don't really like pvd's kicks because they are too distinct and i think they overpower the rest of what's going on in his tracks, but there's not really much you can do about that. maybe if their had been a little more going on in Not Yet when you punched in his track, it'd help camouflauge a little, but the way you mixed them was good so i think you hit it right on.
Paul van Dyk Buenaventura ====> Baggage Handlers Vaportrail
didn't really like this mix. this is the third mix in a row now that you've mixed the next track in at a low energy moment of the track. that's not a bad way to mix, but i think the first mix you nailed it, the second was still pretty good, but this one missed. the mix might work better in a different mix, but just sounded pretty aburpt. i really don't like that synth sound that comes in with vapourtrail either...personally sounds pretty amatuerish and you accentauted it in that mix. Not Blake Potter's best production work, usually he has really awesome sounds, but didn't like that one hehe...
Baggage Handlers Vaportrail ====> Jose Nunez Bilingual (Dirty Mix) (edit)
this mix is better, but a little muddy. when you are first starting to bring it in, sounds like it might be a little off and the bassline could be cleaner, just work some EQ on the lower. i like the placement of the mix. flows and starts to build some energy, but just needs to be cleaned up a bit. also just through out the tune there is this sound underneath it which i think sounds really great...i'd increase the volume on that if you can. really would add to it i think if it was a little louder...make it pump more.
Jose Nunez Bilingual (Dirty Mix) (edit) ====> Flash Brothers Firm Of Entity
This mix is pretty solid. good levels on everything and the beatmatching is right on.
Flash Brothers Firm Of Entity ====> Arrakis Aira Force (Lemon8 Remix) (edit)
another good mix. flows really nice with the Flash Brothers track. just about the only thing i could think of would be to once again, work on some EQ and making the tracks blend a little better. you have some really nice mixes ideas, they just need to be flawless. and this is such a great track hehe...huge! and well placed here.
Arrakis Aira Force (Lemon8 Remix) (edit) ====> Thomas Penton El Ritmo
once again like this mix. pretty much the same stuff that i've said before about cleaner, but pretty much right on.
Thomas Penton El Ritmo ====> Audioholics External Key
another good mix. switches up the sound nicely and technically good. good placement. hard to tell, but after you've mixed in sounded like you were still playing with the levels a bit, but if you were it didn't sound bad...
Audioholics External Key ====> King Unique Sugar High
another good mix to end things on. nothing really to add on this one...the tracks worked well together.
Overall thought the mix was pretty good. i'd give it about a 7/10. i liked the second half of the set (after and including bilingual) better than the first half. second half was better both from track selection and flow aswell as technically.
like i said above i thought you had some really nice ideas in your mixing, just need to be tightened up a bit, but overall pretty good mix. |

| Wow 7/10, just when I thought I was on the top of my game; you're even stricter than me. That's why I like reviews because it keeps my performance in check and doesn't allow me to slip up. From what I understand my main problem is eq'ing and that the beatmatching could have been a lot tighter. I'll work on that for my next mix and thanks a millon for your in depth review. |

yeah i am pretty tough on myself...and so yeah others too hehe :p. if it makes you feel better i probably wouldn't be giving out any 10's unless zabiela himself posts up in here and posts the best set i ever heard ehehe :p.
but i guess the main point i wanted to get across was that beatmatching didn't seem to be that much of a problem, but yeah EQ will take the mixes to the next level. and that's about it. at least my opinion...everything else i meant to say had to do more with stylistic things like the way you mixed in that blake potter track...just wasn't very pleasing to hear it because of the things i mentioned... |

I've listened once to the house part and already three times to trance part.
I love trance mix, enjoying it thoroughly.
When children remix came I was like :eyespop: Great new vision by Tilt. And a perfect blend with Cages. I'll tell you something. Children is probably the track I've listened the most in my life. Yet when Cages came and I recognized it, I had a thought: "lol wtf, it wasn't Children, it was Cages starting". I'm serious. The idea of matching Children with Cages was superb. Nice entry of Wasteland too. Actually a lot of great ideas in this mix. What's more, I like each and every track here, so this is definately one of the greatest progressive trance mixes for me this year.
If I was damn strict I would agree with Floorfiller about beatmatching (example 40:30) and blending. Great ideas on selecting tracks with the same key and going well with each other could have been followed by longer and more intended blending, if you know what I mean. But that's not even a minor issue here, it's an advice for the future.
9/10
Thanks for the quality set, I'll keep it on my HD. |

I'm having trouble downloading the trance mix. either it won't connect, or when it does it won't transfer (transfer window shows file not transfering any data at all)
Anyone else get the trance mix no problem? |

There are 2 links to the trance mix. The one in bold is the fast link and the second one below is the alternate link. I just tested both links and they work fine. Maybe try again later? |
