Hi everyone,
The objective of the competition is to promote the art of composing and producing quality dance music throughout Latin America and the world. While doing so, rewarding those that posses the talent by giving them the opportunity to be heard by our audience. The winners will receive $100.00 USD each and a digital release alongside the Original Mix. Please read and follow the rules very carefully. If you have any further question please email [email protected], or contact Paulo Der Muñoz directly through MSN Messenger at, [email protected] you and Happy Remixing!
Rules
1 - All the remixes may fit into House music and its sub-genres or Trance music and its sub genres ONLY.
2 - Submissions must be exclusive for this competition and NOT posted on forums, copyleft sites, or any other media where you can share it partially or fully.
3 - All submissions must to be at 192 Kbps, if your track ends in any of the first two places, you'll be asked for a higher quality copy. Please send yousendit.com links to [email protected]
4 - Please only send what you consider is the very final version. We will only consider the first submission.
5 – Original Artist retains full publishing rights for remixes produced.
6 – All remixes are sole property of the original artist and may not be sold, distributed or posted without the original artist’s permission at any time.
7 – Contest deadline is May 20th of 2006, and then Istmo Music A & R and Paulo Der Munoz himself will revise, judge and announce the two winners.
Judgment System
You'll be only provided the MIDIs and/or Wavs of the Original Composition and is up to you, use completely, partially or none of the parts supplied to you in your remix, and given the case you need to hear the original for reference, go to http://www.myspace.com/paulodermunoz and stream the romance promo from the player, so having that in mind:
Overall Sound: You don't have to be an engineer (if you are, you have more advantage) to make it sound decent. Judges will look for clarity in the song, clipping, humming, excess of high frequencies, drowning, etc. All of these sorts of issues will be taken under consideration.
Melody: How the remixer interprets the main melody and new melodies implemented, if they are harmonious or not etc.
Arrangement: Structure of the track, if they are Dj friendly or not, if it flows, if it lacks of drive etc.
Originality: I think this is not necessary to explain as we all know what this category covers.
Prizes
$100 for the winner, plus getting the remix released by Istmo Music alongside the original in digital and potentially in CD form. Plus winners will be considered for future remixes and releases. No further royalties will be paid to the remixers.
Prizes are a responsibility of Istmo Music.
For questions regarding this competition, please send emails to [email protected] or contact Paulo Der Muñoz directly at [email protected] on MSN Messenger.

100 dollars with no royalties on a digi dl release is a bit of a crap prize imo. surely you could offer some promos or something, just a thought

Thanks for the comments Luke, but I don't think 100 dollars and a digital release is a crappy prize, or tell me, what have been the prizes of TA's yearly remix contests?
I'd suggest to do it for fun, like we do with TA's contest, and just consider the prizes as a bonus, a big bonus tho, because I know for sure, Istmo Music promotes very well their artists, and the winner of this remix will get great promotion and support from Istmo.
Acute, I wish there was a compo for it. But you can always remix it. ;) |
