PvD isn't the end-all of trance but how is he cheese? I wouldn't say he's shooting for the charts
can you guys agree on a sucessful DJ that's not "cheese"?
what is it about being unsucessful that makes bands and DJ's cooler?

just to prove that silly americans know more about trance than PvD, Oakenfold(who BLOWS), Sasha, Digweed, and ing Alice Deejay here's the good the bad and the ugly on my playlist right now

DJ Pleasurehead - Better Off Alone
DJ Scott Henry - Mr. Kirk's Nightmare
Roger Sanchez - You Can't Change Me (Harry Choo Choo Romero Mix)
Circuitboy ft. Alan T - Jonesing
Dave Ralph live at Karma 9-25-99
Everything but the Girl - Wrong (Deep Dish Remix)
(mislabled) - Dirty Dirty
Atlantis vs Avatar - Fiji (Lange remix)
Ocean Lab - Clear Blue Water
Orinoko - Island (Thrillseakers remix)

some of it is quite old, but still, good stuff

I don't think PvD is cheese... in fact i hate the word "cheese".... people use it to describe everything except for what it IS: great dairy product!

Regardless of how good PvD is, his portrait and name is plastered over every other person's sig and Username on this site. That is what i was referring to.

And i will bash americans, haha! I am american, i know how most americans are (see: stupid), and i fight for them in the military. I like the country, just not the people! ;) (and i'm sure many will agree)

heheh, Cheers!

Good!??, the first two minutes is tight. I think that track deserves better than good.

And i agree with you on us american's. The greatest country ever but some of the biggest jerkoffs live here. It inherent in the system though, give people freedom to do whatever they want and that's what they'll do (be jerkoffs).

I agree...I have noticed that alot of people in these forums are quick to criticize producers or trax that hit the mainstream. Its a shift in tastes of pop culture thats all...in the 80's club music was gino beats. Now I go to clubs where its almost total gino crowd and I hear a tonne of trance music. Its what moves people and just because the radio kills a song, I don't think its fair to say the song sucks. My 2 cents.

I realy like ATB. One of my all time fave trax is York& ATB-Fields of Love. I think its a kick ass track. Barber Adagos is also a very nice track. I just think peeps are too hard on the mainstream...you gotta face facts...trance has become much more accepted by non-trance audiences...

but my favorite was his remix of Miss Jane's "its a fine day"... that song may be considered primera cheese, but i still have a soft spot for it.. and still have the vinyl too ;)

How can you not have a soft spot for it...Power 96 killed that track...lol. I used to listen to it at work (over the net) because I was impressed to find a radio station that would actually play trance and electronica (radio edits and vocal versions but still good nonetheless)...they used to play songs that were popular back to back or two or three times an hour (ahem...Sonique-Feels So Good...ey song but they played that song literallyat least 15 times a during my workday, this I know because I kept a tally to see how bad they were) then I gave up on that station and they started thuggin out. Fahkers! Only play bling-bling hop and r&b.

...and i'm laughing my ass off at you b/c you actually LISTEN to that station? bwahahahahahaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!! I call it "Power Ninety-Sux".... i NEVER listen to that station... always to my CD's (or now my OWN radio station)....

But yeah, you are right about them playing the outta anything. That's why i don't even have it on my presets! ;)

**Funny point of interest: I called them up last night (bored with friends), and the lady DJ answered, and i said "Can i make a request?" she said "yes, go ahead baby." i said: "Can you play more commercials?" ... *pause* .... "ummm, sure." "Great, thanks!" ****

Hey, my opinion is that ATB isn't the greatest trance producer but he's pretty good. His music is cool to chill to or dance to once in awhile, I'm not saying I'm an ATB freak er nothing but I like the guy. I just wish people would stop looking as trance as "commercial" or not and saying, "ah that is commercial...no way am I listening to that". If you do that all the time it shows you don't have an open mind to things. Maybe get a better reason to badmouth ATB other than "he's commercial".

P.S. this is only going out to the ATB haters out there who don't have a constructive reason to say he's lame:D Plus I can feel the flames coming already...:)

i said americans not united state of americans. america is that big chunk of land over there with all those countries on... and i never said anything bad about you. just a large portion of your fellow citizans have some psychop[athic craze about PvD and snap at my jugular any time i mention a mere quibble about him :p

ppl rate the 'big' dj's too highly..

e.g. tiesto. he is good dont get me wrong, he can be better than any dj on the night, but i know a fair few DJ's that no bastards even heard of outside the UK who play as good if not better on a more regular basis. :)

as for PvD.. his recent productions are cheez on a stick. by cheez i mean cheezy sounding. thats what cheez means. if u dont understand what cheez is look up tacky in the slang dictionary... besides.. how can u say the riddle was anything other than cheez..? cheez in my veiw is not a particularly derogatory phrase.. a lot of good stuff is v cheezy. mauro picotto for a start, a lot of his less technoey stuff is really cheezy, but unlike most cheezy stuff its done really well.

and before u try to kill me about the PvD thing, i think he's a great DJ. not as good as scott bond or eddie halliwell, but stillgreat

Its sooo true...I stopped listening a while ago, but for a while I loved it because, I was at work with a dedicated net connection and a station that played booty music, gino beats (freestyle) and electronica to a certain extent. The commercials were ridiculous but when they played music it was great. Plus the L2Airs were aright. Then they started adding even more commercials and killing the thug music. I gave up on em...

They used to be the bomb back in the day I heard, my cousin used to go to Miami and Ft Lauderdale all the time and he used to listen to the radio and get pissed because TO sucked ass (it still does but oh well...)

Times change I guess and now the mighty advertising dollar rules.

Why the different avatar ABT...quick Q...you a 1.8T guy or a VR guy? Also where is your radio station?
