How can the government STOP raves like that??? That's crazy.
If i have a farm, can't i organise a massive party, with lights and sound? i can just say it's a big party?
i don't understand how that works. |

You need to keep in mind that this is the internet.
The sample your collecting is not representitive of the population as a whole.
A lot of ppl who love trance, don't hang out on the internet much, and certainly are not on TA. |
I do realise the fact that this is internet - i am a college student n as i also do sociology i am aware of the risks of questionnaires n teh reliability thing as well as the representation sample - all this i ll include in my reseach bit, poiting out the positives n the risks. i dont even need SUCH an accurate representation of teh whole population as this is merely a critical research for my COLLEGE exam n i dont think the examiners ll care how accurate it is. not that this ll go to the government national records or somethin...
but i did want to be accurate as much as i cud cos i am also usin teh sociological work written on this topic of clubs n raves n i am comparing all the info to an extent.
well TA is a good place to post it as i was not successful with other websites. so, its alright to me. but i knw that ppl do hang on the internet as everyone else...anyway THANKS VERY MUCH TO EVERYONE
WHO HELPED ME!!!

once you pubicly advertise something though, that makes it more than a big private party & you'd need a public entertainment license. they probably wouldn't grant this if no security or anything was present, and noise pollution would be an issue too
bit ty really, but that's the way it works. though in this thread i just saw 'mass rave' as a big event, like global gathering or whatnot |

As soon as you advertise or charge an entry fee it stops being a private party. There was a case a few years back where this exact thing happened and the guy was claiming it was his farm and a private party.
The thread stater did define a mss rave earlier on, >5000 people and not at a club. |

SUCH an accurate representation???
it isn't accurate at all.
It's a waste of time.
Your not collecting info on the habits of clubbers. Your collecting info on the habits of cubbers, WHO ARE ON THE NET.
I'm suprised you could be in a uni, and do research that isn't accurate, and not representative of a population at all. You can't posossibly reach any form of conclusion, and pretend it has any validity. |

So techincally, i can still hold a massive party, and not charge any fees. I'll let the word spread by mouth (if ur country doesn't have raves, ppl would be interested. )
And then, at the rave, i can hand out flyers for club advertisements and specials (these ppl would be paying me, but no-one would know that). |

So what?
He cant ask everyone on earth.
Hes took a sample of people (like most compaines do)and based it on those results. |

so let's just reach a bull conclusion....
are u kidding me???
companies spend millions of dollars on getting their research done. ANd they do it right, via trained and qualified statisticians.
They don't go to a net forum, and post a questionairre. |

Thank u for the support mate!
WEll ABhay - 1st of all, im not in UNI but in COLLEGE and this is my A-level exam if u knw what this is at all. it is for a critial research that noone ll ever read apart from one examiner. i do 4 subjects (A levels) n this is so much that not ANY student like me wud care how accurate this is. im NOT a Company n i WONT spend £1 000000000 to do a research. now if u cud excuse me, this is a friendly forum n the purpose of this thread is not to criticize a young girl student who needs to get her grades to apply to a good Uni.
2nd - this is NOT the only sample i am using and i do NOT sosely base my results on it.
i love trance but as i am not a professional reseacher n as it is not any of my business to try and to be one, i jst want to complete my notes and do my exam. i do not think anyone wud care if i got it right or not or anyone wud ever knw i even exist n do a Sixth form Colege critical research on trace music and youth culture.
i jst dont understand WHY on earth wud one waste their time criticising somebody's work without even knowing the circumstances and taking such a think as a matter of life or death.
JakeC, apparently, knows very well what i am talking about. :) |

So when you see an advert where it says 100% of customers where happy with a product such as wrinkle cream you belive the company asks every single customer on earth?
Well they dont.
its a figure made from a few hundred customers.
And they barely spend a penny doing this.
Give him a break. Hes a student. |

wel yes, companies are there to make money, not to spend on research (they are not medicians). this is even more true for the big companies who are more greedy and know how to make money, without spending much (thats y they r big).
