Hey all,
I have a computer problem that's not urgent, but still I was wondering if anyone could help me out. Whenever I start my computer, there automatically is an IE window up and RealPlayer started. I don't have them set to launch on start-up, but they do nonetheless. Any ideas on how to change that?
Also, can anyone help me re-configure my sound card so that IE uses the same device as WMP and RealPlayer and Winamp? I hate when I'm listening to something and the sound from a webpage is playing overtop of it.
Thanks!

check for start up programs
go to start menu - run - type "regedit" ... delete anything junk you see under hkey, local machine/current_users, software, microsoft, windows, current version, run/runonce...
similarly delete anything you see under startup menu under start menu i.e.
best install spybot or adware |

Start > Run MSCONFIG
Startup Tab , Untick what you dont want to start up.
Stay away from the registry unless u have backed it up and you know what you are deleting. |

instead of using 'regedit'
theres a freeware application called hijackthis which allows you to backup you registry and edit/remove any unwanted entries. |

Oh well ya, if you are not comfy enough with winblows you are better off with third party proggies or the msconfig as suggest. Just that if you learn it you "might" not need any programs to fix your comp.
For me registry is as good as /etc |

Quoted For Truth! If you can get your hands on a copy of Microsoft AntiSpyware (it's been replaced with Windows Defender now), you can use it to see everything that loads at startup. It can also be used to block or permanently remove what you don't want to load at startup.
I suspect you've some malware that is causing this problem. www.lavasoftusa.com is a good place to start. |
