Alright now that I'm somewhat back to normal it's time for a review.
Friday - Got into town at about 10:30pm and headed to Adam's house to meet up with the crew I'd be spending the weekend with. We wasted no time getting the weekend started. Just chilled at Adam's, played beer pong, listened to tunes.
Saturday - Oh yes, DEMF! We got to Hart Plaza at about 3:30pm. There wasn't much music that seemed appealing when we got there but that quickly changed. We started walking around, we'd hear something at the Pyramid stage, "damn, I'm diggin this, lets check check it out." That's pretty much how it went throughout the day as the music got better and better. Than came time for Holden at the Undergrond stage. Absolutely ridiculous. Huge crowd, everyone was gettin' down. The only regret about this day was not getting that girl in the pink's phone number after Adam bitched out and wouldn't go dance with her. :p We headed over to Bleu at about 11 to go check out Holden and Luke Fair. Luke Fair was great! Even Topher said he liked it haha. Holden came on and blew everyone away. Bangin', dirty, amazing. After Holden we headed back to Adam's for the after after party. Not sure what happened after that.
Sunday - Watched the Indy 500 on TV. Awesome race, 2nd closest finish in Indy 500 history. Everyone finally got moving and we headd back to the festival around 9. We decided to stop at a liquor store downtown and pick up a little something for each of us to take into the festival. Later was determined that a pint would have been the way to go rather than a half pint but whatever. Barnes got paranoid and ditched his half pint before we got in. We finally decide after an hour or so to go back and see if it's still there. We figured someone grabbed it right away but sure enough it was still there! Oh how lucky we were, but it didn't end there.
Chillin' over by the mainstage, we realized that we'd just smoked the jay that we'd rolled up. Problem, no more papers to roll more. ! As I'm sitting there listening to music I spot a little orange package sitting about 5 feet in front of me. I'm thinking, "no way, it can't be." Sure enough it's half of a pack of Zig Zags. SCORE!!! After we roll a couple up we take off for the Beatport stage. We get there an realize that'd I'd left our pre-ground bag of post just sitting out in the grassy area we'd be sitting at before. At the time we wrote it off as a loss and moved on. About an hr and half later, Barnes decides to go see if it's still there. Why not? We got lucky with the liquor, found a pack of Zig Zags, it's worth a shot. Well , 3rd time's a charm and Barnes comes back with the bag. WOOOO HOOOO!!!
As we're about to get into my car and head to the after party, this crack head stops and starts talking to him. We chat with him for a few, bless him, and send him on his way. 15+ blocks away at the Masonic Temple, we come across that very same crackhead, who recognized us. The chances of each of these things happening to us (the liquor, the papers, pot, crackhead) are extremely slim so we were amazed upon seeing the crackhead. The party we picked ended up sucking so we went back to Adam's and made our own party. Again, not sure what happened after that.
Last year was easily the craziest weekend of my life up until Movement 2006 took the title. I had a great time with Adam, Garth, and everyone else I saw but can't remember. I can't wait until next year! |

mathew jonson on friday @ bleu was sick .. although in order to really "hear" him you he needs to be on a cleaner system. it was loud as hell but you really couldn't hear everything he was doing.
marc houle / magda / holden were all at the festival. marc houle was probably the best set i heard at the festival.
power went out during my set at bleu 4 times .. and there were no monitors .. so you had to deal with a second delay on every mix. holden was sick at bleu, long ass set for sure, probably was in no condition to go on after anyways so that was fine with me. thanks to the TA's that came down to catch some of my set, everyone it was pretty much pointless.
seeing richie and m:atthew dear tag team at the works for a crowd of about 100 people @ 8 in the morning at the works was SICK. stayed till about noon then got some sleep.
it was so hot during the day on saturday that i didn't enjoy myself to much. didn't see anything that really blew my mind.
all in all a VERY good demf, paxahua did a great job with the production .. hopefully for once we will get a heads on the festival more then a month in advance. |

That was the one thing I forgot to ask you about on the phone earlier; I'm really glad to hear that Paxahau did such a good job. Without ever having even been to a Paxahau event myself, from the reviews I see posted on DCS all the time it seems that they just do a phenomenal job with every show they put together... Glad to see such a respectable promotion take the reigns of DEMF and really do a great job...
Hopefully next year all the dust that was kicked up for me this year will be settled and I can see Paxahau in action for DEMF myself... :) |
