MiSSyM
Adam Beyer YEH!

FUKYEHHHHHHHHHH PLASTIKMAN!HAHAHAHHAHA

MAGDA & HAWTIN TOGETHER= very good combo!

I saw Dan Bell at Honkys last year, he ROCKED TOO! ;)

i know these aint too, too minimal tech djs but still:

LOVE JEFF MILLS he plays HARD TECH AT ITS BEST! Would love to see him again! Also Laurent Garnier rocks too!
Also like: Petar Dundov, Kenny Larkin, Stacey Pullen-spewin i aint seeing him Anzac day eve!

For JPL's initial question I think it all depends, I think a lot of people are still not aware what minimal is and that 'electro-clash or however you wanna call it' will stick around for some time in Melbourne!

Sez I am still traumatised by our experience @ Superpitcher :nervous: :nervous: :nervous: I have no idea why all those people were dancing to nothing.

Minimal's like any other genre - there's good stuff and there's bad stuff. I can see why people find it "boring" (a lot of it really isn't that dancefloor friendly) but for me it's the genre where the most innovative, interesting sounding EDM is coming from atm.

Personally i quuite like minimal - but if its gunna take over the bigger scenes, its gunna get sold out to a degree just like electro has been.

It's become pretty "trendy" over the past few months, but I can't see it becoming as ubiquitously popular as electro was in 2005, prog was in 2002-2003 or trance was in 1998-2000. Firstly it doesn't usually transfer that well to the big room dance floor like the others do (unless it's "amped-up" a bit - a la the sort of minimal played by Hawtin, Beyer, Carola etc.) and secondly it doesn't really have a "hook" to draw people towards it and make it easier to appreciate (like with the big synths of trance, the atmosphere of prog, or the basslines / vocals / female-friendliness of electro). It's going to get bigger and more popular (you only have to look at the popularity of guys like Gav Keitel and Mike Callander and nights like Sunny locally to see that it's already taken off) but I just don't see it ever really taking off in a big way globally like those other genres.

For trance what does this mean? Well if u look at it - trance has gone down a slightly electro path in the last few years - it does follow the trends (as does all dance music i guess)...and i think more a minimal feel to trance would probably do it a world of good.

Haha, minimal trance? That'd be pretty cool. Are you thinking like the James Holden / Nathan Fake type stuff or something else?
