The Amsterdam based live-act Junkie XL started in 1995 and debuted in 1997 with their album Saturday Teenage Kick. Actually, Junkie XL is not a real band, but more a one-man-show by Tom Holkenborg, born on December 8th 1967 in Lichtenvoorde (The Netherlands). Junkie XL's music is a mix of rock and big beats, often compared with the sound of The Prodigy and The Chemical Brothers. The power of this music is absolutely best expressed in a live performance. Junkie XL is one of the first bands that plays modern electronic music and combines it with a good live show. Junkie XL's music is a mixture of styles; alternative dance with a rock-attitude. The real Junkie XL-feel is probably in Saturday Teenage Kick: an uptempo hip-hop beat with a groovy guitar and Rudeboy behind the mic. Junkie XL's name is based on what Tom Holkenborg described as his "studio-junkie" reputation. He's seen as a real workaholic. The XL is referring to the process of "eXpanding Limits" (of perception, reality, etc.). On stage Tom Holkenborg is the main man, the sequencer. All sounds played on stage come through his desk and he adds all kinds of effects to them. Please welcome Junkie XL to Atlanta for this very special night!!!

| I am so excited to see Junkie XL... I won't be in Atlanta, but he is playng my hometown of Jacksonville, FL on Sunday. Should be an epic party! I say this because it is such a quaint venu, The Blue Room! I highly reccomend you guys checking out a show there! |

Ehhhh. We'll see.
After Nashville last weekend, partying like a rockstar this weekend, and going to Savannah next weekend, I think we may need a weekend of doing absolutely nothing.
Never know, though. If we feel good come party time, and you're going for sure, we'll do our best to join ya. I missed Junkie XL last year and heard that I missed out on a great set.
I dunno, though. You really think he's my style? :haha: |

| last time i saw junkie for only 10 mins because i came in at 12 on a three-headliner night about a year ago. I just remember hearing a funky remix of bastie Boys - Fight for your right to Party and then seeing Junkie do this backflip type thingie ON STAGE! :crazy: Then him doing accompaniment on the korg synthesizer and then he was off. :( So I am DEFINATLY stoked supreme for this! Like a big awesome party with nothing other than good times on your mind... yup, leave the mixing expecatations at home....lol... expect nothing but the highest quality dance music, with sick tracks, back to back.. and a totally crazy dutchman carrying on like a rockstar.... that's JXL Live :D |
