Hey tranceaddicts,
this is what I've been doing in the past weeks. A track I'm very proud of, something different from my usual stuff. "Droid IV" is pure dancefloor stuff; This is melodic, fast and banging Techtrance.
"Droid IV" (version 2)
BPM: 148
Length: 10:20
Bitrate: 320kbps
Filesize: ~21 MB
Equipment used: FL Studio 6, ReFX Vanguard, Audiorealism Bassline, rgc z3ta+, karmaKiller, etc.
The link:

enjoy it :)
*edit:
I just updated the link with a new version!
- some mastering issues, especially on percussion
- made the bass "clearer"
- changed the BPM from 154 to 148
- another hihat added
- psyish synth added
- pads added
- structure changed, track is a little longer now.
still enjoy it ;) |

right from the beginning there is a high pitch humming...is that suppose to be there?
sounds like when you have WAY to much volume out from a source that has really LOW volume.
and right of the bat, this is not my style..at all. so wether this track is good or not is mute..Im not even sure I can give you a fair comment.
in some parts it sounds like you have too many things on at the same time. chaos!
but maybe the style is this way? |

| yeah not really my style either..sure theres a lot of energy in it - be a good song to come on if i was totally off my head...that buzzing at the beginning reminds me of what i heard when i recorded from my TV when i made songs on Music 3000 on the PS2,due to a poor scart lead.. |

hmm surfed in on ta, music promotion, saw an cybernetica thread and clicked instantly!
just w8ing for it to dl!
well it is indeed fast.. :p,
the vocals are a bit to weird and well bass is a tad low for club music.
this has some nice elements but its way too fast to be "ordinary" club music i think.
the melody is kinda cool, nice synth.
i would actually call this nrg trance :P it just needs a better/higher/louder bass! but thats just me :D some tunes are good with a low bass.
your melody is very intense :) i like it ;).
nothing wrong with the percs but there seems to be stuff missing when they are the only thing with the kick playing.
then comes the beat, the beat is good but i think thats the bass overlaps the kick there :D.
now comes melody full in and yea now i definatly can say that i would call this energy ! :D.
i could imagine ppl stomping hell out of them to this on a huge dance floor :D
i like this track but i think that it lacks something, i cant put my tounge to it!
outro is good, you keep stuff happening here to thats good!
bass stops kindoff abruptly.
great work! |

Is that humming the vanguard in the beginning. I've noticed this tendency. The zeta is better for standalone sounds because of this. That's my guess.
The levels are off. The percs and vocals, cut unevenly.
I like this aggressive sound, being used to gabba-americana, so that's alright. You definitely have that sheeting feel you want at 2:27.
I think you need to bring in a 303 or something before 2:45, as it gets monotonous there. I think a filtered 303 or equivalent would lead to some nice play prior to that point.
I like the 3:49 break. Although the overdriven sound is even more obvious and disturbing here. I would mix the whole thing clean. Actually I would like to remix this for a try sometime, as everyone else probably scared anyway :nervous:
I think you need a new element at 6:00 too. The steam-like hiss is cool but not enough but to add color. The break beat is nice here, but new sounds should with it.
Overall, nice experiment. Good writing. Probably need more chances to remix an aggressive sound, as the faders seem to have crept up on you. |

this is fast!
the squeeling doesnt worry me:)
i bet your kick would smash a dancefloor up! its very grunty! a fresh change
i see this being played by yoji biomehanica. or during a massive psy event. the speed makes up for the reletive lack of drive. it wouldnt work well slower but id slow it down and maybe add something to keep the pase up a bit. maybe to 145 or something?
droid is a good name for this.
no real complaints but i dont know much about 'T2' influenced superfast psytrance:)
good work

i like the snarefill kickdrum at 0:36, the bassline is very nice.
i can really see you are a psy-music lover, this track is different then your usual production, but its very good. i dislike the vocals but thats just my opinion. now at 4:06 jezus! good man. nice synths... the way you outro the samples is very well layered. good work mate, im going to add this to my collection. thanks.

thanks a lot for your comments, Dylan, Adam, DJ Cola, Majutsu, rich and bidor.. very helpful suggestions :)
Dylan, I didnt hear the high pitch humming but its often caused by PiWarp, a ringmod plugin. I might check again for a lowpass-filter on it to remove it. If you are talking about the sound starting at 1:32, I intended it to have a little more high end.
Cola, interesting you mentioned the bass, I was asking myself the same thing. Im still kinda scared to change it as I like it that way, if the bass gets too high, I have problems with putting it in the mix as it interferes both with percs and melodies then.
Majutsu, I only used vanguard for the percs and the gated melody layer. The rest is z3ta+, and I agree with you, for those leads and standout sounds you need a synth with a better quality. Also thank you for your suggestions on arranging, if you would like to remix this, just feel free to ask :)
rich, thank you a lot, feeling very honored :)
bidor, the vocals have been added afterwards to add more variation so I might have a look at them, right now however I think they fit quite well.
I got to admit I am still a complete n00b in this genre, I just listened to some heavy banging tech trance tracks which were included in a Psy mix, and I got to admit there is plenty of badass techtrance out there waiting to be discovered. :)
Plus, it was really fun to produce this. In my recent Psy attempts, I always lost the plot at some point. |

| I'm liking the change in style. This is definately more club-friendly. Vocal sample is a bit akward, but everything else seems to fit. |
