DJ Groove Eric & DJ Relik @ BLUE, SoBe 4/7/06 Review + Pics

Right. As I type this up, the afterparty is still going. Had to leave due to...technical problems, let's call it.
Anyway, here's my review from last night @ BLUE.
It had been 4 months or so since I had last visited BLUE. With all my past trips to Los Angeles, Amsterdam, and Toronto, the time to see FLTA's very best throw it down in South Beach was defintely long overdue.
I arrived at Blue at 11 P.M. to find the place completely dead. There was no opening DJ to be found, no customers, nothing. So I waited outside and John Paullino and Simon (Coastie) arrived, followed by Manny, Relik, and Steve. More and more TAs arrived. Michael Warren was supposed to open, but since he arrived (super) late, DJ Relik took over for a bit until 12:00 or so until Eric prepared to spin. Relik threw down a brief but banging opening set with awesome tunes that included:
Luminary - Amsterdam (Smith and Plegder remix)
Above and Beyond - Alone Tonight (Matthew "Tooth" Decay remix)
The Thrillseekers featuring Gina Dootson - By Your Side (Martin Roth remix)
^I had heard the Tooth's remix of Alone Tonight at Space on Armada night and was very pleased with it, so naturally it made me happy to hear this song again.
When Eric came on, he just plain threw it down from beginning to end, with a couple of minor foul ups. The place was blasted with energy and the dance floor was packed. Tunes included tons of new stuff:
Aled Mann - Cold Fusion (Sean Tyas remix)
Simon Patterson - F16
Beam - On your mind (Sean Tyas hard dub)
Randy Katana - Play it Louder (DJ Spoke remix) <- This was NASTY. SO good.
Blank and Jones - Catch (Martin Roth remix) <- I texted Mel when this came on.
Kyau vs. Albert - Walk Down
Among them a couple of old favorites:
Mr. Sam - Lyteo (Rank 1 remix)
Marcel Woods - Advanced (Original mix)
And this one...the legendary track from 1999 and his next to last track...
Lost Witness - Red Sun Rising
John Paullino remained a virtual statue while Eric played his set and Coastie lost his mind on the dance floor. Defintely enjoyed himself. One word dude: TRANCE. :D
Both Michelle (Trancewhore) and Michael Warren celebrated their birthdays at Blue this Friday night, and in grand style. Stunning SoFLTA turnout, minus one MellyMel. :(
And right now I can't even feel my in' face.
The afterparty: brief review. Relik played a set quite unlike anything I EVER heard. It was PURE nasty from start to finish, minus....lol. I won't say. :p
John Paullino made his debut as a FLTA DJ and an impressive one. Great track selection, energetic and banging. Some questionable mixes and some really innovative "tweaking," if that's what it's called. Look forward to hearing him play again soon.

ALL I CAN SAY IS WHAT A NIGHT!!
awsome banging trance all night I did not stop dancing.lol. I was great meeitng everyone I think i made some good friends. Blue was a nice lil cozy club thats what I liked about it, sound system was good, and Drinks were strong. Meeting DA and bdr22 and john was great, cool kids. Hopefully ill be part of the regular gang now on lol.
I need some of DjGroove Eric sets. WOW cant wait to go out and party again!:D :crazy: |

The reason i couldnt be there last night :rolleyes: :mad: As a matter of fact im gonna say it ALL THE PEOPLE WHO CONSIDER THEMSELVES AS FINEST !!Damon i hope you changed your mind about your future career cause you will also be included in this YOU :rolleyes:
And a huge THANK YOU to Relik for filling in for the dj that was SUPPOSE to spin b4 Eric and i guess never showed up. :whip:
But as always , id rather listen to Relik and Eric together anyday b4 anyone else :D . Those who went and made it a great night THANK YOU AS WELL !!! |
