Buying a HP computer?

one of my friend is selling an ATHLON64 3200++ rig for a good price
I was just wonderin if its that much of a good deal since I know nothing about HP computers other then that they bought Compaq some time ago..
comments and suggestions?

| best thing to do is load the software you want and try it out. it will be either fast or not. none of us could tell you whether it would be good enuff. |

HP's are useful for busines's who use HP's great support to reduce downtime.
Hp's in the home are usually pretty set in stone, as in, the whole thing is built around the hardware - It will be fairly hard to upgrade things without major changes, such as a motherboard swap.
Also being second hand and depending how old it is you may miss out on HP's warranty for repairs.
Tell us how much your gonna pay and we will try put together a machine you could build yourself...
If the price is cheap it might well be worth just buying. |
