are you going now?

My wife's friend was there this past week and it rained every single day... she didn't enjoy more than one hour of sun at a time :(

I wanted to go to that exact same resort in May, but after hearing this ty weather they have, I will have to find another place...

p.s. you don't have to be rich to go there, its not that expensive :p

I can see it now...d!abolic comes back and makes a new thread entitled, "I got *insert an incredibly bad incident of some kind here* in the Dominican Republic!"

That being said, have fun and try to stay out of trouble!

My girlfriends parents went to that exact resort in December and they loved it. They raved and raved about the resort and the Dominican. It only rained one day while they were there (2 weeks) and they said that the rain felt like it was 85 degrees so it wasn't even that bad.

Hope you have a good trip!

oh yeah, one more thing I found in Dominican... that will likely make me pick a different island from now on: Everyone serving you seems very money hungry. Kind of understandable given the circumstances but right away at the airport I pulled my heavy bags from the claim and out to my shuttle. I lifted them onto the bus myself and right as I was about to set them down a guy came over quickly and grabbed them and set them down for me... right where I was standing. He then put out his hand and said $10 was ok to make sure they got to my resort... I was WTF, I just did all the work and you want me to pay you 10 bucks but then I realized that I wanted my bags to be taken the right place and knew he wouldn't let me off until I payed him. I felt very ripped off the whole week I was there. It seemed like everyone was "friendly" as long as you had american money to throw at them even at the all-inclusive resorts. I didn't tip the guy working the bar once I went for a drink and then the next time he completely egnored me and went out of his way to serve as many other people as possible first before me, even people who came like 10 minutes after me... I had even tipped him 10 bucks the time before that so that he would remember me and give me better service. I ended up going to a different pool side bar instead after that for the rest of the week.

Also if you see souviners you like off the resort, you should usually pay only about 25% of what they open up with an offer on. ie
guy:"oh that, how much you want to pay?"
me:"how much are selling for?"
guy:"$100 those are very good cigars"
me:"I'll give you $25"
guy:"no. no, no, they are very good"
me:"ok fine" I turn to leave
guy:"ok $25 is good"

note: you can likely get stuff for even lower % of thier opening price but I felt generous enough to let it be with out pushing further, knowing that financially I was in a much better spot than them.
