I just read an article on listening and I realized I'm not as good as I thought:
1. Don't think of your reply while someone is talking to you.
- dam i always do this. How else are you going to reply in an intelligent way if you weren't thinking while they're talking?
2. Make eye contact.
- staring at someone in the eyes freaks me out.
3. Don't interrupt.
- I do this too. Can't help it. If I wait until they're finish I'll forget what I wanted to say.
4. Don't add your stories that relate to the convo.
- I'm always saying 'oh yeah i had a similar experience, such and such happened to me too'
5. Ask follow up questions and repeat things that they said.
- most of what the said flies out my head.
My only consolation is that I must be a better listener than Slylee.;) |

i can't stress #4 enough
its ok to do it once in a while, when you actually have a good story, but most of the time its really just ing annoying |

Haahah, number 4 is probably what I am the worst with.
I do however follow 2 and 5 really well. 1 and 3 I should work on. |

i can't stand when people do a lot of these. especially #1. my roommate does this all the time. like when i'm talking - you can tell he isn't listening, just waiting for me to stop so he can say something else.
i noticed this a lot , so one time in the middle of what i was talking about i said something completely random, like, "and then she got pregnant" and he DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE!:whip: which is kind of why i gave up talking to him. haha
interuppting is horrible too. honestly, i can't stand it when people do it to me.
i follow all these rules; except for #4 - cause sometimes i end up saying, "oh , and this one time..." etc.. etc.. |
