Should there be an age limit to culinary school?

Let me explain the scenario. My girlfriend works for a culinary school, a Le Cordon Bleu certified school in Pasadena. Most of the students are either right out of high school spoiled brats that didn't want to go to a regular college, or adults trying to make a career change. Anyway I always hear stories about the first week of a new term. Students cut themselves with knives, burn themselves with oil or on the stove or burn food etc... She always tells me that for the first week or two the ambulance is there at least 3 or 4 times a day. Anyway today is the first day of the new term and the school is now on fire :haha:

So my question is this...should there be an age limit for culinary school? Apparantly 17 and 18 year olds can't help but something up. Discuss...

maybe they should teach them safety lessons for the first week or something kind of like in chemistry when you had to learn about the chemical shower, the fire blanket, and all that other good stuff.

i can see why they made that rule so that they can hope to keep things more professional and all of that bla bla bla...

but for people that are serious about becoming chefs and what not that sucks that they can't really get a start younger. i'm sure in foreign countries they start at a young age...

The only rule really is that you have to have a high school diploma. I'm sure there are students there that are 17/18 whatever that DON'T set the building on fire...I just thought this was hiliarious being the first day and all :haha:

Teenagers are (generally) morons. They probably dont know their ass from their elbow so it comes as no surprise that they suck at cooking.
