Sid LeRock / artists (S)
Real Name: Sheldon Thompson
Profile: From the beginning:
Shelbono "Barracuda" del Monte, real name Sid LeRock, was born in a desolate lumber/mining town in the northern regions of Ontario, Canada. As stereotypes are concerned for Canada and its inhabitants, this Canuck is a living, breathing testament of this fact. Mr. LeRock graduated at the top of his class at Lumberjack school but soon realized that he was petrified of heights. So, against the wishes of his father and the strong line of lumberjacks before him, he decided that he needed to seek out new life opportunities. Of course, his sweet mother who was once a salon dancer encouraged him to pursue his dream of being a musician and so LeRock made his move to the big city of Windsor...(whiskey capital of Canada!).
Living in Windsor was hard times for the young LeRock but the hard life is what developed an interest in music and it wasn't until he made his move to Toronto (Rock City) that his fire of passion was set. Never a DJ, Sid performed live for many years until finally, he decided to isolate himself in a log cabin deep in the woods to produce his signature style of "Rockno", influences that borrowed from post rock and minimalist styles and developed it to reflect his ah! natural behaviours and preferences. Today, this dirty Frenchman now living in Cologne, Germany , sets out to prove that Canada is a big ass country with many trees still left uncut!. He knows no cold.
Present:
Under the alias of Pan/tone (Shelbono "Barracuda" del Monte), Sid LeRock embarked on a new direction in music but most importantly, a newfound passion. LeRock has since then comprised many unique features to his sound brought upon many inspiring factors that has contributed to his musical direction. With the forge of his thoughts and ideas, Sid LeRock's compositional style is that of a techno+rock (Rockno) sound, a sound that rocks dance floors and complements the whiskey in hand ideology. However, LeRock's approach is more of a broader musical appeal, rather then his Pan/Tone outfit. His theory is to focus on creating compositions that have a sense of independence rather than just a broader musical appeal; a sound that will hopefully branch away from the norm. A new Rock is born!
