Restaurant suggestions

I summon the powers of NYTA for good date restaurant suggestions.

* for a weeknight
* not a first date - no need to impress
* need not be too intimate (can be, but it's not a criteria)
* good vegetarian food is a plus
* places we have enjoyed in the past are Jojo's and Angelica Kitchen

I was thinking Kittichai but my boss thinks it's too trendy and not "fun". He recommends Zen Palate instead.

what does NYTA say?

Zen Palate in Union Square is good. I've taken meat eaters there, and even they were impressed with the vegetarian-only dishes. They also have outdoor seating during nice weather, plus there's lots to do within walking distance. It can get pretty crowded though, so I'd avoid typical dinner times.

My co-worker also recommended these places, and she's a pretty strict vegetarian:

I've only been to one vegetarian place and I really liked it. I ended up going back again!

Republic on Union Square west. It's a Japanese noodle restaraunt. The place looks very nice/modern/loungesque.The bar is really nice as well. You place orders at the bar via PDA tablet. Prices are really reasonable. They have vegetarian noodle and rice dishes as well as dishes that include chicken, duck, etc. Check it out.

I was actually going to recommend Republic too. It's slightly trendy but REALLY loud and noisy, so don't expect anything intimate or romantic. There are a good variety of tasty dishes, and as Blake said prices are reasonable.
