Doesn't it kinda bug you when you see American TV ads that say "talk to your doctor about BLAH."
They actually want people to go to their doctor and ask for a drug. WTF kind of screwy medical system do they have down there? I'm glad those are not allowed in Canada... but it's too bad we still get exposed to them via imported television. |

Exactly, and that is what good marketing is all about. It doesn't matter if only 10% end up purchasing your product, because in the end you've just made a profit off that 10%. The large majority on the population may dislike or disagree with your marketing/product, but it's effective marketing when you reach anyone, even only a few. |

Prescription drugs are fine and work if used in moderation. But when your constantly getting prescriptions for this, that and everything they will become less effective. This is why any good doctor will always tell you to make sure you get plenty of rest, because your body is better at fending off sickness on it's own when your well rested. |

remember one thing.....money will make almost anyone or anything not have the least bit of concern for your health. greed and power is a terrible thing.
i know someone very close to me with a terminal sickness, as much as i hate to say it the herbal medications probably do a lot more for her mind then any prescription bull the doctors have prescribed. it's sad to see what this world actually has become all in the favor for the dollar but that is life on this planet, hard to change the powers that be....for now.
live life the way you want it, accept no seconds, fuk what others say and die with a smile on your face. they can't take that away no matter how hard they try.

i'm not sure about the diseases listed, but I believe the common cold isn't researched enough and/or can already be cured but the drug companies make too much money off it. Think of the cash they pull in from things like advil (anti inflammatory to help sore throats), nasal stuff, cough medecine, sinus crap, vicks, etc etc.
I just wouldn't be surprised if there was some truth to all of this. The pharmacutical business is absolutely huge. I know I fork out a lot of dough for various remedies. |

I totally agree. I'm usually one to refuse all kinds of medication, and let my immune system take care of it. I'm usually sicker for longer as a result, but it, I'm strengthening my immune system. When I feel like things are really going down the ter, I'll go to the doctors (I haven't been to my family doctor's in 5 years, which is so long, according to them, that I'm no longer part of that clinic, so when I actually did get sick, they wouldn't give me an appointment, and I had to go to a walk-in clinic where she gave me antibiotics and I was better within a day). |

This cannot ever happen. This should not ever happen.
If you want research to be conducted to cure actual diseases that were not created simply to sell drugs (cancer, AIDS, etc) you need to have patents to ensure that the cost of research will be worthwhile. Piracy of patent drugs happens often enough, so all the poor, starving Africans etc. still get their generic alternatives. Taking patents away from Merck, GSK and the rest is not something we should do, if we expect any progress. |
