No, you aren't the only one. I agree.
And the compliments work really well on me when preceded by an "OMG, you are..."
Like an "OMG, Jamie, you're toooooo cute" or an "OMG, Jamie you look soooooo sexy" works better than a "Hi, Gorgeous" or a "Hi, Beautiful" on me, any day. For some reason it seems more sincere?
