| Are there any small venues that throw good parties or bring in bigger names to a small club? I know from a business point of view it doesn't make sense but a few years back there was a whole thing about big name small club events ...... like my buddy was telling me he saw dj sneak at a club the size of madbar witch is the size of my bed room. Element use to have wicked parties, big parties like Decadence @ guv are wicked don't get me wrong but if you ever been to the purple room @ rev it's really small but the vibe is awesome and by the end of the night u know everyone in the room. imagine getting a big headliner in something that small I think it be good time .. Agree/disagree |

From economical point of view, no.
Feel free to host a party with a big name DJ if you have a wad of money to blow away. |

| The only reason it made sense economically years ago was because the parties were being sponsored in large part by tobacco companies (Benson/DuMaurier) which basically threw tons of $ at these DJs and put them in venues across the country. Capacity/return on door cover wasn't an issue - they had budget allocated for this - until of course the government started blocking tobacco sponsorship. |

| I still regret missing Sasha and, I believe it was Porter, at one of these events back in 2003. |

"i know that form a buissness point of veiw it don't make sense" it prob won't work anymore cuz dj's have become rock stars and carry a price tag now to make public apperances and the price keeps going up every year, like i'm planning a trip to montreal to see erick morillo and originally on his site it said that he was at Aria (typo) so i emailed em cuz i wanted to confirm everything beofre i take time off work. Anyways they said it was typo on his site and i asked if they were gonna have him anytime soon? (this is a quote form a promoter from Aria) "I dont think so... hes goin crazy on salaries " |

Don't remember if Porter was with him. Damn lucky that a remember any of that drunk fest. All I remember is that we lined up at 8pm. When we got in there were so many free drink tickets flying around that everyone in the place on that Tuesday night were falling all over the place with huge smiles. Sasha played a very fun set and it was good times. |

Armin on the Guv boat cruise on Canada Day 2004 was incredible...there were *maybe* 30 people on the dancefloor right in front of him at any given time. I think he did that as a favour to Guv bringing him in all the time though?
while it's hard to find "big names" in small venues...there's no shortage of quality DJs and great music in small venues. Gallery at Guv with regulars Deko-ze, Sydney Blu, Addy, Simon Jain, etc. all prove that on a weekly basis :)
System was my favourite "small venue" with big names...R.I.P. :( |
