i'd have to say i disagree with this statement entirely. i don't like arctic by hemstock and jenningsa at all and i think a lot of people would agree with me in this even though many agree with you. i do like nothing but you and would have to say that even though it is based on a sample from it, it hits me completely differently.

most of reflections was a severe disappointment. nothing but you is great but older than most of the reflections material, so i don't really associate it with that cd. buenaventura is also very good but its from the zurdo soundtrack which was a really well produced cd as a whole. from reflections in terms of fresh material i'd have to say the best song for me is that's life. connected would be the second, and reflections third. the original of tool is not bad either.

very weak album from someone like pvd who has produced so much really inspiring and banging, forward-thinking music in his career all the way through the releases of tpod1 and the zurdo soundtrack. i still love his djing 9.5/10 times and find it both inspired and inspiring...for that reason i think he still has it in him to produce really great music again... let's see if he does.

i like kaleidoscope best

i'm uploading trance energy 2003 as we speak if anybody is interested

Reflections must have been the weakest point in PvD's career as a producer. When many others of the big producers such as Tiesto, Ferry and Armin clearly had showed that they had gone for the more pop influenced trance sound I still had hopes for PvD. Unfortunately he headed for the same direction. Nothing of his past as a trance champion could be found reincarnated in any of the tunes on Reflections.
This was purely an album not for lovers of trance but for lovers of pop music.
And gone seems to be the glorious day of his magical work with BT and Tilt. :(

if you look at many of pvd's interviews.

he doesn't want to be known as the trance-meister, he plays all sorts of elektro-music, that's why he took a different edge on the album.

don't get me wrong "out there and back" was amazing and hard to top, but I also think it's good if sound evolves.

pvd can play any kind of elektromusic, that makes him different to many djs.

in his sets he'll play epic and pumping stuff and on his radio show he'll play obscure stuff

i like epic best but it's good if a dj is diverse,

armin plays a lot of different kind of stuff, thats why i like him too.

I think Out There and back was great too. He still had that "punch" in his tunes on that album. And this is what i miss on Reflections. They are neither inspiring or unique in any way. Just weak poptrance.
I think many hardcore PvD fans expected much more from him.
I've listened to him for over 10 years and I must say that this was far from what I expected.

rebel9 i know what you mean to some extent.

but then again if you want something with a thump there are always the club versions of each reflections track you could listen to.

actually I didn't find any punch in them either. it wasn't the same punchy feeling as the club versions off the tunes from Out there and back. Even the commercial tunes such as We Are Alive and Tell Me Why had a nice depth as club versions.

i disagree, e.g. connected - moto mix 5 , is ace when dropped in a club
