Hi,

Haven't been on TA for a while but I'm starting to get back into trance a little bit, so it's nice to see y'all again.

Anyhoo, just wondering if there's anybody here from the North East or even better from Sunderland? I'm thinking about starting up a new night and looking for people who might wanna collab.

I used to run nights a few years back, and swore I would only ever do it again if on a more serious level AND with the right people, so if there's anyone here with similar feelings please let me know. You don't have to be a Trance addict either, I'd be interested to hear from people with any musical/dj/clubbing interests.

there is little scope for running a trance night up here any more mate. promise in sunderland gets very few people by all accounts. there is a new night opening at the cosmic ballroom in newcastle though.

imo the only way to create a sustaining night around here would be to get somewhere like ikon in newcastle and get dave pearce/jules/etc (for the charvs) and a couple of up and coming djs (for the music lovers) on so that the place does get filled.

there are very few suitable venues for playing this kind of music if u want to run a small night, god knows we had enough bother doing vuzz

Well thats exactly the kinda thing I'm on about mate. Cos before I was just running little nights with local talent, tight budget, and the venue was some of the worst bars you could imagine.

When I say "do it properly next time", I mean actually investing a few grand, creating a brand, and going all out the promotion and entertainment. Like I say it would have to be under the right conditions and with the right people.

Interesting about Promise - I didn't know they had a night in Sunderland, I thought they used to be at Foundation then Mark closed it down just before Christmas. Unless you mistakenly mean't Privilege? If you did, its an absolute joke - full of chavs, and back in Febuary last year I was playing there for a bit (was also supposed to do warm up for Dave Pearce) and had quite a bit of bother with the manager Andy Sutton. Mainly because he's an absolute knobhead who hasn't got a clue.

Jeez! I just found out that Promise are indeed starting a monthly night at Privilege. They must be absolutely MAD! Mind you, can't see it pulling off and lasting very long.

I just can't beleive QUALITY promoters like Promise are going to Privilege, and with only 1 big name DJ on. What happend to the 4 or 5 DJs they used to have on all on one night?

My god I can't beleive it. Its just not sinking in. Priv hasn't even got a proper DJ booth, or dancefloor, or lighting system. And the sound system?... pants! Unless they bring their own that is.

Just wana be the first to say, congratulations ! (on getting back into the Championship :p)

privilidge was ran (at least in part) by old promise resident lee foster

i think promise already have had a night in sunderland; hardwiick + the thrillseekers or something like that

Pete_B
I think Lee had been doing some DJing at their one off Serious nights, he never had anything to do with running the place from what I've found out.

And yes they have already done a night, it was Richard Tulip + Thrillseekers. I've checked out the listings for future events and it seems just as lame. Plenty of scope for another night I would say.

I'd be up for doing a night in Newcastle if not Sunderland, but I've noticed that Sunderland is VERY quiet on Friday nights now and I reckon that leaves a chance to hire out one of the good clubs.

Hardly anyone wants to travel to Sunderland for a night out though. The opportunity is there if someone wants to do it, but getting the narrow minded folk of Newcastle to travel a few mile to Sunderland for a night out isn't gunna happen any time soon.
