You know, if this were a 27-year-old male teacher having sex with 13 year old female pupil (even if she looked like an adult) you would all be calling him a paedophile.
There is a reason adults and children are not allowed to have sex, and that is because the child lacks the mental maturity to make a decision. There is also a reason that teachers and pupils are not allowed to have sex, and that is because the teacher is in a position of authority and could abuse that position to force a pupil into doing something they otherwise wouldn't.
God forbid this was a 27 year old male teacher "Fulfilling the wildest dreams" of a 13 year old boy unsure of his sexuality. I can just imagine the words you would use to describe him.
The immaturity present here is unbelievable. |

Nobody here is saying it's not wrong?
Even if you only got as far as the first post in the thread then you would see the comment "They should just leave the bitch alone already". Which to me suggests someone is saying she's not doing anything wrong... |

Fine then I'll say it;
She's not doing anything wrong.
Considering it wasn't that long ago people were getting married at 11. This is purely a cultural thing. She doesn't have a problem, it's society that has a problem. |

You would say the same thing if it was a 27 year old male teacher and his 13 year old female (or male) pupil? |

I interpeted that as the poster reffering to her posting about the myspace page. That is wrong if she was told not to contact him ever again and not to use the net, they she should have a myspace page first of nor should she try to message him. If her Plea deal was for that and she went against it then she should get the book tossed at her. But as for post of the people saying if they were taht age they would hit it.. i dont see that as wrong. |

Bill Maher was talking about this a few weeks ago and a lot of what he was saying I've said before and is being stated by others here. This is an instance where a double standard isn't really a bad thing. A lot of men are in their sexual peak at a time when they're not legally allowed to have sex. Women don't hit theirs until later (late 20's to 30's). In other words, on a purely physical level, both of these two were gearing up towards their sexual peak.
People say that this will screw a young man up, and I'd disagree. I think the media attention and the public condemnation will screw this kid up, but the actual act of having sex with her won't. If I had a hot teacher in junior high or high school that wanted to sleep with me, I'd have had a hell of a lot more confidence growing up. Women are used to getting sex whenever they want. Men don't have that option even 10% as much, so it is different and when an attractive older woman wants to be with you, you'd appreciate that.
Also, as was already said, humans are made to function sexually at that age, we as society have deemed children too stupid to make decisions, though. That's the problem. Rather than teach kids to be mentally mature, we just legislate in opposition to nature. I seriously don't think that teenagers are given enough credit for their judgement. Some of them do have bad judgement, but then again, a lot of adults do, too. |

Precisely. If this were perfectly acceptable in this society then there would be absolutely no damage done.

And how do you decide who has enough judgement to make these decisions in the first place? Some people have it since childhood and others never devellop it. It's like the voting system - How can you justify the voting age being 18+ when mature and intelligent 15 year olds have no say and senile and mentally challenged 90-year olds do? |
