| Open up any track off any cd and run it through a spectral analyser. I guarantee there will be no empty spaces in the sound spectrum between 50Hz to about 16-18Khz. Professionally mastered music just doesnt work like that. |

| Obviousely non-electronic music is limited by the sound ranges produced by the instruments used. Classical is often composed in layers to maximize the space used, but the whole spectrum is rarely fully used - only at certain instances during a piece. I wouldn't say trance is the only genre that fully uses the spectrum, but because of it's "fuller" nature, I would say it's definately one of them. |

Johnny, please tell isoterra what he's won... smartass. When you compare house vs. trance, please tell me in which style the bass is more noticeable and pronounced? BTW, what seems to be your deal as of lately with what I have to say? So I don't like trance music, so what. I've said why I think the way I do and at least I back myself up when I say something, unlike many others who simply troll around here and say "trance sucks." Does that really bother you (and others like you) so much, that like OMG, some people actually have the nerve to criticise and dislike trance... or aren't you one of those people? |

i'd actually assumed clovis was dicking about since it seemed a pretty inane statement to make (sarcasm taken into account)... it just took someone else replying to it for me to speak out. i got what you meant and obviously assumed you knew what bass was... i guess the dryness was lost somewhere.
in short i was on your level, just happened to think that you were talking bollocks, since trance is bass-driven music and the bassline *IS* prominent & full in the majority of its tracks. perhaps not in comparison to certain other EDM genres (like you say) but that was never mentioned nor disputed prior to your post. even so, comparing the entire house & trance genres is vague & pointless and i don't plan on doing the same, since i'm probably about as familiar with all the varieties of house as you evidently are with trance. but i will say some of the strongest, most noticeable & pronounced basslines i've ever heard have been trance ones.
as for your second paragraph.. :wtf: i'd have replied the same had anyone else posted that. to my knowledge i've only disputed you once before and that was because i believed your criticism of trance to mostly consist of fallacies, applying more to the fans/people in the scene, as opposed to the music itself... and incase you don't remember i was actually agreeing with alot of what you said about certain listeners' attitude towards the music. either way in both that thread & this, it's not your dislike for trance that provoked my response... more things you've said that sounded more like false facts than opinions.
and yeah i'm far more likely to respond to someone who bothers to back their points up... i seldom give trolls the time of day anymore. i personally can't see how you'd take offense at someone paying attention to your posts & taking the time to respond to them, but whatever |

of course the bass in house is more pronounced. house is soley based around a groove, which comes from the bass, whereas trance is more based in melody. |
