So, my family does this thing every year; we visit my aunt in North Dakota. I know, it doesn't seem fun, but I find it great, I love it over there. It's peaceful, and people are very welcoming to outsiders. We go to a town called, Wahpeton, which is on the south east corner if North Dakota, and has a population of 8,586. Thats a huge difference from the town I live in, which has 25,000 people in 5 square miles.
It is the most Industrialized city (That's right, they call it a city) in north dakota. It has the best tasting water in North Dakota (Which doesn't say much because it tastes horrible), and has a surprisingly sophisticated and large zoo which has a pair of siberian tigers that have given birth to a few cubs about 5 years ago.
The great thing about this town, is that it shows signs of a developing and thriving city. Which actually worries me, because it's growing at an alarming rate. I have been going for 15 years of my life, and for the past 5 I have gone, there has been an extraordinary boom in the developement of housing, and condos. Microsoft has been on the outskirts of fargo and that brings in alot of people to the area.
This trip will be much different than any other. I plan on bringing my camera and a laptop. I am going to visit my aunt, of course. But on my free time I am going to go around town, obeserving the day-life and the night-life of this growing "city". I plan on taking many pictures, writing many notes, and I will interview as many people I can, including the mayor and possibly members of the city council.
When I get back from the trip, I am going to write an essay about it, or maybe even a small book if I get enough information. The only bad thing is that I will have a week to do this, which is not enough time, in my opinion, but I will work very hard to get as much information as possible.
This will be ing awesome. |

No, that's in the western part of South Dakota. If it was east, I would definately have tried to take a day trip there. :sadgreen:

Actually, I went to a pilgrimage at the "Carmel Of Mary" Carmelite Monastery. I spent a few days tidying up the place before many people came. Maybe not the type of pilgrimage you went on, but it was called a "Pilgrimage". I remember I got stung by a bee, and I was using the worst kinds of words in front of some goody-goody catholic kids about my age (At the time, about 12). I felt so bad, because they aren't cultured at all. |
