Since when did success dictate idiocy? You don’t see Richie Hawtin, or Digweed standing on turntables? What an attention whore. Maybe he’s hoping a bit of showboating might add to his lackluster sets as of late. (re: reviews from Decadence)
Could you imagine Lee Burridge standing on the turntables in the booth at Fabric. AHAHHA Where’s the class? |

Hawtin and Digweed also draw much different crowds than Armin. And people's conceptions of quality music change as their taste evolves. Armin has always been about the show and that's one thing I don't think will change with him. It's part of how he's chosen to define himself on the scene. For the record, I never gave him a bad review at Decadence. I thought his set followed precisely the formula I've come to expect from him - some ASOT, some new stuff, some classics. People pick on Armin for standing on turntables and then will turn around and pick on Paul Van Dyk for his 'lack of crowd interaction'. Clearly not everyone is going to be happy all the time as everyone has different ideas of how DJs should act. I guess my comment was a knee-jerk reaction to 'OMFG get a ing life' as I'm pretty sure Armin has quite a comfortable one. |

| It’s just so unnecessary and slightly gay. Sure sure, he’s all about the “show”. I guess I’m just a little old fashioned, preferring a dj’s performance to be based in around MUSIC, not his/ her acrobatics. Something about it to me is almost arrogant, that’s why I think I’m so irritated about the whole thing. |

| I was standing about 10 feet away from Armin when we got up on the table. I didn't think it was weird at all... in fact, it fit that moment quite well. Words cannot describe how good that last hour of his set was. Armin looked like he was having a blast... I really haven't seen him that happy before so I guess if he wanted to stand on the table then who cares? It made him feel good and the crowd certainly loved it. That's all that matters. |
