I'm not trying to spark a debate or anything.
I found this to be a very interesting read above all.

Ihsanic Intelligence, the think tank behind a highly controversial study, have spent two years studying suicide bombings by Islamist terrorists and their conclusions are both timely, controversial and intended for a global readership.
Titled ‘The Hijacked Caravan: Refuting Suicide Bombings as Martyrdom Operations in Contemporary Jihad Strategy’, the study systematically analyses al-Qaeda’s literature for recruiting the potential suicide bomber, refuting the Islamic evidences used in their favour and provides greater evidences from fourteen centuries of the Islamic legal tradition to refute the suicide bombings as a whole.
The study concludes on the landmark ruling, to be presented at the United Nations Social and Economic Council, which Islamic scholars worldwide are being urged to become signatories to: “The technique of suicide bombing is anathema, antithetical and abhorrent to Sunni Islam. It is considered legally forbidden, constituting a reprehensible innovation in the Islamic tradition, morally an enormity of sin combining suicide and murder and theologically an act which has consequences of eternal damnation.”

The article mentions Sunni's, but what about others? I can just imagine if this was relayed to Hamas, or Al-Q they would say it was western propoganda or something and that it means nothing. Besides, Hamas does not consider the bombings suicide. They argue it is all justified.
I wonder what their reaction would be if an Israeli went into a Palestinian township and detonated a bomb there, killing many people. |

| In my opinion, it's all about interpretation, and how one interprets the teachings of Muhammad. |

Well they do dont they?! And their reaction would be to go into a town in Israel and do the same. Then Israel would do it. Then the Palestinians would do it. Then...ok you get the point!
Anyway, I can tell you why suicide bombing is forbidden by Islam (and every other religion for that matter!) in one sentence let alone a whole article! - THO SHALL NOT KILL!
Pretty simple really. People who walk into a night club full of innocent people and detonate a bomb are gonna go to hell and no amount of twisting the scriptures will ever change that. Its just that humans tend to be fickle. Especially religious ones. They buy into other people's bull like it was Gospel (pardon the pun!)
Same on the other side. These whacko Christian fundamentalists in America who think its ok to bomb another country, because they buy into the bull spouted by those who claim the moral high ground, who claim to be doing God's work, who are not much different to those on the other side...
To summarise - stupid religious people can be persuaded to do pretty much anything an "evil" person wants them to if they can convince them God would want it that way |

I didn't read the entire article but so far
the gist of it is you dont go to heaven if ur death is by your
own hand. similiar to christianity. It's aslo forbidden to kill/harm non muslims who are in a majority muslim country if they are there in good will (ie: aid workers, etc etc). however i think occupation forces in iraq for example are in a kind of grey area. |

How about the whacko pro-life christian fundamentalists who think abortion is wrong but bombing an abortion clinic and killing the doctors who do it is OK, dont forget to count them in. |

I love those people.
What about the idiots protesting that God hates gays and our soliders at the funerals of soliders that die in Iraq? Their message is that God is allowing our soliders to die because our government tolerates homosexuals and God hates homosexuals, so any government that tolerates them should be destroyed.
I heard the Hells Angels have started going to funerals to protect the family and run these nuts off. Funny how the "holy" people are the ones acting out hatred. |

| That should be fairly obvious. Suicide is forbiden, and so is indiscriminate murder (since there is no specific target, civilians are the ones who get killed, not miiltary personel). |

| quote: | Particularly among fanatics, there seems to be an intentional misappropriation of meaning in the liberal misapplication of labeling words. Let’s start with the BIG ones: suicide bombers and martyrs. Suicide is a term that should evoke empathy, if not sympathy, for a lonely and despairing act. A distressed soul, harboring a crushing, agonizing lebensmude, weary of the strain of a terrestrial existence, perhaps seeking mere relief, or just an end to psychic pain, may be contemplating suicide. If this person straps a bomb to his or her chest and walks out into the solitude of the desert and detonates, they would then be properly called a “suicide bomber.” But when the media reports every day on “suicide bombers,” they are talking about different people.
A fanatic who straps a bomb to his chest and walks into a market crowded with women and children, then detonates a bomb that is sometimes laced with rat poison to hamper blood coagulation, is properly called a “mass murderer.” There is nothing good to say about mass murderers, nor is there anything good to say about a person who encourages these murders. Calling these human bomb delivery devices “suicide bombers” is simply incorrect. They are murderers. A person or media source defending or explaining away the actions of the murderers supports them. There is no wiggle room.
Calling homicide bombers martyrs is a language offense; words are every bit as powerful as bombs, often more so. Calling murderers “martyrs” is like calling a man “customer” because he stood in line before gunning down a store clerk. There’s no need to whisper. I hear the bombs every single day. Not some days, but every day. We’re talking about criminals who actually volunteer and plan to deliberately murder and maim innocent people. What reservoir of feelings or sensibilities do we fear to assault by simply calling it so? When murderers describe themselves as “martyrs” it should sound to sensible ears like a rapist saying, “She was asking for it.” In other words, like the empty rationalizations of a depraved criminal.

 You neo cons don't give up do you. I heard about journalists and even CIA analysts being asked by neo cons to use the term "homocide bombing" instead of "suicide bombing." And the CIA dude who I saw in the interview was like "that's just stupid, the intent of every boming is to kill or destory." But I must admit your predictable neo con behaviour and posts can be pretty amusing due to their utter absurdity and predictability. :stongue:
EDIT: Thanks for the laugh though, it made my day. :D (no seriously :p) |
