| Actually, most stuff I've read says it's the best (or one of the best) programs out there. I have it myself, and I recommend it highly. |

| Yeah, it's definitely a bit complicated and daunting at first glance, but once you figure out the basics it begins to fall together. I'm FAR from adept at these kinds of programs and I've done pretty well with it so far. I can understand why people might not like it, though - especially if they don't have much free time. |

suppose i'll stick to my beloved turntables :p
figured i would follow the digital revolution but i still prefer the real thing. the feeling of vinyl beneath my fingertips will always be superior to plastic shaped like a mouse and a keyboard :toothless |

| Yeah, the thing is I only own CDs and my CD "turntables" are getting old, so I thought I'd see what I could accomplish with some decent software. Not for playing out, mind you, but to make my own mixes to burn to CDs and stuff like that. It would be nice if there were programs specifically designed to do just this and nothing else, 'cause I end up getting thousands of features I'll never use (but still have to pay for). There are pros and cons to just about anything, though. |

This is misleading. In my experience, none of the above programs have quite the functions that Ableton Live does. Live is one of the most aptly named of the programs in that that is its purpose: providing a platform for live performance. You can produce in it, but IMO that's even more cumbersome than performing. I'd like to get further into Ableton as far as real-time sequencing and djing goes, though. |

have you tried using Traktor Dj Studio ?? It basically performs like 2 cd decks. Might suit your needs. |
