Wow man thats incredible as i had the exact same situation present itself to me, for like a few months after i got my decks i couldnt figure out beatmatching at all(i never once thought about giving up, my love for the music is too strong)but then all of a sudden one night i was just messing around trying to do a good mix and exactly as you said something just clicked inside my head and all of a sudden i could differentiate the beat from the monitor and the beat in my headphones it was like i was wearing headphones and the monitor was the other phone and the two sounded so separately clear to me that i was able to match the beats for a long time and do my first successful transition, it was such a cool experience ill never forget that one instant where i was like wow im actually matching the beat and controlling it, pretty tight =)
cheers

Interesting.
I haven't had this happen to me yet.
By the way, when you say "monitor", what do you mean?
The headphones, or the ear open to the current music? |

hey Eugene when i say monitor i mean the actual speaker, when i had the headphones on with just one ear the ear in the headphones and the ear listening to the monitor(speaker) it was almost if i had my headphones on both ears, its very hard to describe but its like before it happened my ears were listening to one sound and after, each ear could assimilate between 2 dfferent sounds |
